This school is a treasure trove if you want to learn all about bullying and abuse. The lack of proper mental health support is astounding as well as the lack of any care shown repeatedly by staff at this institute. The school does terribly to actually teach the subjects and gives you no proper preparation throughout your time there for VCE. The principal has absolutely 0 care for his staff or students to the point they have teachers teaching in the subjects they didn’t specialize in. This school is an unsafe environment for students and staff alike. I would not recommend sending your child to this school, it is a living nightmare.
This school can be good, but much of the staff would prefer large issues like bullying and teacher/student conflicts be swept under the rug. They can even punish students for not wanting to be in a class with a teacher that treats them poorly.
* Bullying is rife throughout the school.
* Drug use by students in toilets and not managed.
* Students non attendance and school does Zero.
* Non Supportive with Parents concerns.
Is this the System?
Allowing the kids to potentially ruin their Future by Encouraging Non Accountability ?
Sadly This is Evident.
This school is a joke. They pride them selves on the fact that they believe it is the student’s responsibility to show up to class and complete the work. But if you have an undiagnosed learning disorder you will have no chance of surviving at this school. You will get told by almost every teacher that it’s your own fault for not understanding the task because you weren’t paying attention, or that they can’t explain the task again because you should have been listening. You can tell the teachers that you tried to pay attention but you didn’t fully comprehend the task and they’ll tell you it’s your responsibility to pay attention. Then you find out years after leaving school that you have an attention disorder and you had no chance of completing your education at Templestowe.
I’m in the Montessori stream, just moved into TC and I am loving it! So laidback but you learn so much. I highly recommend! I don’t know as much about mainstream but it sounds good too. The electives are fun and engaging and the fact that we don’t have to wait till year 9 to get electives is amazing. The Montessori teachers are friendly and accepting and everyone is welcoming and kind.
