The Demerit system was ridiculous! I was call more for this nonsense over Stupid stuff while I was at work and they indicated it was for him moving his hand the wrong way in “Get this”; A dance class therefore after 3 in a day he was put in a 4 hour after school detention!!! When I was to go to meet with the dean , to get my son back in the school class the next day, lots of students in the office in the morning upset and crying. Lot’s of unorganized faculty. when it came to responding to a parent request to meet with an instructor, there was no feedback. Bad system communication when trying to reach the office from work on break, in the morning or afternoon when your kid is Stuck in Their detention class. The call would go straight to recordings all the Time. My Son was not receiving respect to even speak to express himself without being given a demerit and this is where I drew the line. Esai (My Son) was in that building stuck and was being Set Up For Failure. This child couldn’t even adjust to this foolish school and only in just 3 weeks all of this crap! I took my son out and He is such an Awesome student at St. Leo’s High School, where the faculty and staff Actually care about another human being and allow my son to express his interest and pursue it in a dignify way and without prejudice that he may be given a demerit for being himself. In ending No parent is wise to allow their kid to be expose to Hansberry College Prep ( A boot camp School) unless they feel their child has no value in expressing themselves in life… Extremely misleading Institution.

Truly concerned as a parent

Ms. Perez

I have to admit that the teachers, staff, and educational structure are top notch. I don’t personally have a problem with that, it’s just that my experience of highschool has gone down the drain and into my sea of disappointment. I just feel like if I express myself in anyway, shape or form I will get in trouble for it, of get frowned upon… It is a shame for a freshman, who is just experiencing highschool for the first time, to feel this way in this school. I mean I thought highschool was suppose to be this place where you get education, discipline while having fun at the same time. In this school that is the COMPLETE opposite, you have the education and they are somewhat together with the discipline. Literally I feel like I am an a juvenile correctional detention center, feeling nothing but disappointed whenever I walk in there. No smiling, talking, laughing, giggling, none of that 2D’s…. Literally. My experience at Hansberry has been just…. (excuse me for saying this) Terrible…. Education wise no, discipline&Fun wise YES????????
Very unpleasant staff and attitudes when you enter the school. And not culturally sensitive to the ethnic group with regard to history classes.
