My daughter started GSDS in 2019 at 6months and I absolutely loved it. As the leadership transitioned out and new came in, I began seeing a big difference in the organization. In 2021

My daughter enjoyed the majority of her teachers and I truly believe they have a heart for her. My biggest concern was the massive decline in communication and the culture and climate for all not just the kids. Those areas decreased drastically and the Director was not approachable and appeared very defensive when parents asked clarifying questions. The director was not visible and did not uphold her promises to families. Students do not attend chapel and do not participate in karate.

Recently my child was terminated because my concerns of my child being left outside, teachers tone, communication, my concerns above and my over advocacy for my child. I reported to the state my complaint about her being left outside because the director NEVER followed up with and blew me off when I asked for a meeting. The director retaliated and decided to terminate my baby for my concerns with how GSDS was conducting business and for her teacher resigning.

I strongly believe she has great teachers and childcare providers however under her leadership i am not sure how it impacts our children. Ask all the questions before considering your child to attend GSDS and I pray your are given accurate information. My love to the teachers and prayers that they consider better leadership.

Our boys (3 & 1) have been at Good Shepherd Day school since they were 12 weeks old. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff at GSDS – they are truly a part of our family. Our boys are learning so much – from sign language to cleaning up after themselves after meals. They were taught to hold their own bottles at 4 months and were sitting at a table to eat around 9 months. The teachers have been so supportive and encouraging on a daily basis, both for me and my babies. I would highly suggest scheduling a tour to see what an amazing daycare this is!

Diverse, well-established, 5-Star rated day school and child care in Rocky Mount’s oldest Episcopal church. Great programming—including weekly chapel and music instruction with choir director.
