We have been a Yavneh family for 7 years now, since Kindergarten. When we first came from a tour, I knew this place was special. The school concentrates on the “whole child” combining academics with social emotional development and experiential learning. The teach values such as making the world a better place than you found it, being an “upstander” instead of bystander, looking out for others, being environmentally conscious. Teachers are able to provide individual attention to students and “meet them where they are” to help them progress and succeed in each subject. The kids are able to express themselves with music and art. They can excel in math or science and are encouraged to stretch and reach their full potential. This is a safe learning environment for all students which is so important in todays world. Yavneh works to teach my kids not just the hard skills (math, english, history, etc.) but the soft skills that are required for anyone to succeed in the “real world” such as how to speak in public, how to have a discussion, how to stand up for what you believe in, how to work in a team, and so much more. I would encourage everyone to come check it out and do a shadow day, so your kid can feel what is it like to be part of a community.
Entering the doors at Yavneh is like walking into a big hug. My kids feel a ton of confidence walking through the halls daily, positively impacting their learning experience and willingness to try new things. My oldest is completely obsessed with the STEAM program – it’s made a huge impact on her life and the way she problem solves. She’s really looking forward to middle school where there are even more leadership opportunities, electives, rock band, walking to the JCC for lunch, and so much more. My youngest just finished a magical Kindergarten year and is soaring through 1st grade. She’s easily reading full books and doing math for fun. The new literacy program and approach to 2nd language learning has been amazing. My husband and I do not speak a second language but our kids do! They love learning and going to school, and that’s been our goal from day one in choosing a small environment. We weren’t sure Jewish Day School was for us; we are casually Jewish, mostly just celebrating holidays. But this school has given our whole family the gift of feeling proud of our Jewish identities. Just take a tour or join a community event, none of what you find online does the place justice. Our whole family highly recommends Yavneh!
Yavneh magic! My kids (since Gan!) love learning thanks to teachers who ignite their sparks. Warm, supportive staff & individualized plans helped mine thrive. Now fluent in Hebrew, they confidently navigate even tough situations thanks to Yavneh’s social-emotional smarts. More than academics, it fosters well-rounded, compassionate kids.
