My son just completed his 3rd year as a student at Brehm. While I would prefer if he could study at home, we simply don’t have a school that is so well equipped to holistically nurture a student with multiple learning challenges in Cayman. My student’s experience to date has been exceptional. He feels that Brehm is his second home. He has been appropriately challenged and supported by the school. He has made great friends from all over the world. His academics have truly improved according his annual WJS results. Brehm offers Student Centered Education where each student is pushed to their maximum potential. He tells me his largest academic class ratio was 1 to 5 this past year. With that level of attention, he can focus and learn. He is accommodated for his needs. The staff communicate well between academics, residential, recreation, counseling, and nursing so that the student and their needs are well understood by each component of the school. I wish every child with multiple learning challenges could access this level of educational resource. I have gone the “extra mile” to make sure I could afford to keep my student at Brehm through to graduation. I do so confident that it is the best school for him, despite that he is a long distance from me and despite that I miss him dearly. I would recommend paying a visit to Brehm with your student. It is not a convenient location, but that is immaterial when you find a place that truly meets your student’s needs.
Education staff are amazing and really take time and care about students. Residential staff do not realize that teenagers are going to be teenagers and they eliminate way to many people from the school for simply acting out. They lock you in your dorm room for several nights. That drives a person crazy. That is not a consequence, that is a straight punishment. With a learning disability, comes a lot of trouble in the social area of the students life. They do not accept that at all. On the bright side, education staff such as teachers. Are very understanding and great with the students. Structure here is also very good. Staff single out people Forsure. Favorite staff is Paul Kosuth a teacher. Worst staff that I’m sure everyone would agree with is Aaron lee. Least understanding staff there. Has horrible patients. Makes lots of kids cry and feel bad about themselves. If you care about your child education more than their mental health than this is a perfect school for him or her. If your more concerned about your child’s mental health than education, please do not send him or her to brehm preparatory school.
My 11 year old son just completed his first month long sleep away camp at Brehm. It was an extraordinary experience for him and quite an experience for us as well. I can say enough about the care, attention and genuine warmth the staff bestowed towards my son as he grappled with being homesick and at the same time having more fun and adventure than he ever imagined. The range of activities was so broad that surely every camper found a magic moment, an interest or something to pique their intellectual curiosity. Most importantly my son came back from the experience with measurably increased independence, self reliance (no more battles about doing his own laundry, folding and putting away clothes!) and maturity. I don’t know what clicked, but something did and I am happy for it.

Staff responsiveness towards me as a parent was exceptionally good. They were thorough, consistent and swift. I am a raving fan of Brehm Preparatory Academy!
