I have gone to Russell Sage for a year and my friends are going there right now. The school has many problems, which I will get into. The teaching performance is very poor. The teachers don’t explain properly and when you ask questions, they either don’t really answer properly or ignore it. Their lesson planning is poor since the notes I have had to take are very long that I filled around 5 pages in one day. These notes were on slides in a specific color so everyone had to copy all of that and couldn’t abbreviate it. There’s also a problem with disciplines. Many schools have this problem, however, this school takes it to a whole other level. They don’t care if someone hits somebody else or starts fighting. They only care as long as a parent reports it or something of the sort. My classmate brought a scalpel to school, which the school had no idea, and nobody reported the situation. The dean when she is dealing with these cases doesn’t not take the proper actions. For example, when she called me down to her office because another friend’s mom reported us for making a joke about hitting her because she got a better grade. She immediately screamed at us and assumed that was why we made that joke. She sent us to one guidance session that lasted around 10 minutes. The person in charge didn’t ask proper questions but just ignored us when we told them why we joked about that and assumed it was about grades. After that I’ve never gotten any other sessions and was let off the hook. My last point is that the school has a history of drugs. If you check other reviews that are pretty old, you see them mention drugs. While it isn’t as bad now, drugs are still used. My friend has classmates that vape and they haven’t been caught. She did report it to one of her teachers, but nothing has been solved or heard. Though I can’t speak on the matter because I haven’t participated or heard too much about this.
So like this school is pretty good like i’m going to it currently but the only problem is some students are either mean, joke around to much or just plain annoying. The teachers are pretty nice along with some APs, principal and the dean. The only teacher me and many other students don’t like is Ms. Baez, she full on told one of my classmates that he has no brain and she’s extremely unfair and just so annoying. Her grades are unfair and no matter how hard we try she’s just never satisfied. She’s also lowkey kinda racist like she full on told one of my other classmate to go back where she came. We haven’t reported it cuz we just stopped trying. she’s been like this all year and there’s no point of anything anymore. She’s also extremely ignorant and always bragging about being Dominican or some dumb stuff like that. I don’t necessarily hate her i just really dislike her as a teacher and as a person. Other than her, this school’s really good and fun.
This school is awful! Most of the teachers there are so rude, ignorant and narcissistic! And the substitute teachers are even worse! They are so clumsy and they always get mad at the students for doing some of the slightest things just to get their work done. Not only that but most and I mean almost ALL of the students here smoke, vape, fight, etc. and all the teachers do is just tell them to stop and give them multiple warnings even though the students have done it multiple times! This school is also so dirty!
There are many spilled drinks and foods in the stairs, hallways, and these messes have almost been uncleaned for over 3 days! Seriously?! You guys couldn’t even clean up messes in the classroom! There is gum, snack wraps, candy wraps, chips, etc. all over the desks and floors!
1 star, I would NEVER recommend going to this school.
