Further Music has been a blessing for my eldest son. Weve been here for about a year now and my son has improved his piano skills quite a lot with his instructor Ms Marla in just a short period. Shes a wonderful teacher. She gives him challenges and he practices at home a lot in order to do better each week. The new location in Forest Hills on 72nd is also fantastic. Its on the third floor, they offer group and private lessons. They also just got a grand piano at this location and it sounds GRAND! In the near future, I plan on sending my younger son to Further Music. We may try guitar with TJ or perhaps stick with piano with Ms Marla or Ms Kelly, whomever is available. Either way, I have high praises for all of the instructors here. Weve had a substitute teacher Mr Matthew who emphasizes a lot on learning to read notes which is one of my sons weaknesses and he was great. It was a slight change of pace and tune with a different teacher but he brought a lot fun to our session and also a different teaching approach that my son liked.
Very pleased with the private vocal lessons my 11 year old daughter has been taking the past year. She loves her teacher Ms Kelly and has developed her pitch and key well as well as some vibrato (and confidence), and although sometimes she pushes back on going to class, she always enjoys it and feels good afterwards. What a wonderful opportunity to gain a foundation in music in a joyful way. I believe tuition is reasonable compared with other schools (though there are many different packages), and the school is fair with things like make-up classes given advance notice. Especially impressive is the care and energy and elegance they put into recital/performance opportunities. (photo: recital at Queens College in June 2022)
My son has been taking lessons with further music school for over 4 years and it has been a great experience. Mr. Mattew
who is amazing teacher, he is an easygoing teaching style while at the same time he’s focused on helping my son progress. The lesson is also joyful. I feel lucky to have found Mr. Mattew as an instructor, and I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn the piano.
