I attended this school, and it was a ridiculous, mediocre and pathetic institution. I consider my diploma from VHS more of a mark of shame upon, than a credit to, my name; and if I have one regret in life it is that I did not leave that foul place and get a GED.
There were some great teachers there, but they have all been pressured out by the administration.
The place is full of closet racists who cover their ill intentions with politically correct nonsense. They swallow every silly trend that comes their way hook, line and sinker. They promote a disgusting hierarchy based upon one’s athletic prowess – which incidentally ruins sports for anyone who maintains their sense of perspective and priorities, or who wants so experience some life outside of school.
What’s more, being largely composed of ignorant people, the school has a very explicit policy of giving grades based on “work ethic,” rather than one that actually reflects the students understanding of the subject. I suppose this is because it is much easier to grade “work ethic” than a subject that you are purporting to teach, but that you don’t understand.
It has been a miracle of bootstraps (re)education if I have constructed one grammatically correct sentence, or spelled one word right in this review, and anything I have ever accomplished in my life has been in spite or, rather than because of, my time spent at VHS.
Wow, Valparaiso High School has such a “great” learning environment. Everyday is a surprise to whether I’m going have a heat stroke from their lack of an a/c or literally freeze to death due to them also not having any sort of heating. In each hallway, you can enjoy a different odor. For example, the main hallway smells like regurgitated chicken nuggets. Appetizing! On the subject of chicken nuggets, the cafeteria always has food that tastes and smells like it’s a month old. Another thing is, you will always get to enjoy the unsettling feeling that you might die due to worrying about getting crushed by lights or pipes that stick out from the ceiling due to the lack of ceiling tiles. Last, but not least, you don’t have to worry about things getting too quiet due to the loud, monotonous sound of construction that never stops. (:
My favorite place to be was always Zoology with Mrs. Bernardi she is an AMAZING teacher and does an awesome job making the class not feel like a class and still teaching all of the necessary information. If you want a science teacher I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BECAUSE OMG ??????????????????????????????
