It was my first time here 12/28/2023. I have mixed reviews which is why I’m giving it 3 stars. First it was easy to book an appointment and the services were great. I did the treat your self special. I got a facial, mani, hairstyle and makeup. It was all great and the hair and make up turned out perfect for my date! I will say the services I’ve got done were the best I’ve had at any beauty school I’ve been to. It was strange having to keep being walked up to the front to wait for a different student to do each service but I get it especially with the different programs there are. What was also strange was the dress code or lack there of. Usually at beauty schools I see students wear all black. But I found it strange that students were wearing sweats and hoodies. Sometimes I couldn’t even tell who was the student and who was the client. I just thought it was strange and kindve unprofessional especially in the real world a cosmetologist or estheticisn wouldn’t be wearing sweats and a hoodie at a salon or spa in front of their clients. Also what was a downer and very unprofessional when I was getting my hair styled. There was an older gentleman getting his hair cut next to me. He seemed like a regular client that comes in. When he was done and getting out of the chair the student said “now get the hell out of here Tim” then other students came around and started talking about difficult clients. The student said that comment so loud im surprised the client didn’t hear it. which I felt bad for him since he was a paying client getting his haircut. I understand the students have difficult clients but that shouldn’t be talked about on the clinic floor especially in front of clients. Again the services were great I just have mixed reviews. But I’ll definitely come back and try it out again.

***update the gel polish is an extra $6 but worth it. Im going on 2 weeks and have no chips. Bad news I caught covid there. Got sick 2 days later. Spent the last week and a half sick.***

Great student but the worst instructor!
My stylist asked all the right questions. She was very friendly. And tried so hard to make things right!
I am disgusted with the instructor helping the students that day. From the beginning she was rude. Telling them to put the foils in straight. Showing them and saying do it my way only my way all while she didn’t do it straight!
It was neon pink NOT BLUSH!
That poor student was so upset because she knew it wasn’t right.
She tried so hard to get the color lighter. To make it worse I went in to get purple, for epilepsy awareness month.
In the end I was there 6 hours!! The instructor who was there when she was done got snippy about the pink getting too light if I had them use their vinegar treatment. He was going to put on my card that if I came back in 2 weeks because my color was gone… I said YES! GIVE ME THE TREATMENT!
Side note~I cannot count the number of times she said “ya” but it was way too many times!
These guys are here to learn, who can learn when she’s in their ears “yaing” (yes I know that’s not a word) then 10 times a minute or being rude to them. Telling students her way is the only way, she’s the only one who does it the right way.
When I was leaving I was asked about my experience. I was honest, what did she give me? A $10 discount! What a joke. Pics are before and after.
As a former student/graduate of MCHD I would like to say a couple of things. # 1. I loved going to school here and enjoyed all the Instructors/Staff. I wouldn’t have made it thru if it wasn’t for all of them! Eric and Char were two of my favs but EVERYONE helped mold me into the professional I am today! Thank you guys!! # 2. As I read all these negative reviews I would like the public to remember we are a “school” and we do try to give the best service possible. We see a lot of clients and quite a few get upset when its not “perfect”! Please keep that in mind when you visit. We all learn at different speeds and have different skill sets. Some of us are more nervous than others and some of us cry even when it doesn’t turn out as expected. We try. I can’t say enough great things and cant wait to visit my home away from home. Miss you??
