This review is as of April 2017. Our daughter attended Apple Montessori in Fall 2015 for Pre-K . I absolutely loved our teacher at the time(Mrs. Warner). She was great and our daughter had a noticeable intellectual growth from her time here at Apple. In fact, I liked it so much that I thought enrolling our second child, our son, there as well. However, during the 2017 enrollment process we changed our minds on the enrollment for the summer and would continue eventually continue in the fall.

Here’s where the problem occurred, Maria, the tuition director, re-opened our account from 2015 and had already withdrawn the funds from our account via an ACH transfer. 1) We NEVER authorized this payment. 2) The account information should have been deleted from the databases at Apple M. when our daughter left the school. 3) The account utilized was for my daughters tuition in 2015 and was not a medium for tuition payment for my son in 2017.

After requesting a refund from Maria, the tuition director, she stated, “This year the policy changed and we require 4 weeks minimum of summer in order to enroll for September school year. The summer session policy stated on the tuition policy is as follows: Summer weeks are nonrefundable under no circumstances, I cannot refund you the payment.”

Our problem was simple, we never gave authorization for Apple to withdraw funds nor confirmation that our children would be attending. Therefore, the funds should have been refunded. I called Maria several times and left voicemails requesting the funds to be reverted. These calls, messages, and voicemails were NOT answered. I complained to the director of the school, Kellie Ann-Capatasto, and she was able to contact Maria regarding the funds reversal. It took Apple M. six weeks (plus a few days) to finally resolve the matter.

If you are planning to enroll your child here, you may want to consider the above. Personally, Apple M. should have refunded the funds on Day 1 as the transaction was NOT AUTHORIZED. Secondly, having a mandatory requirement to have your child enrolled for a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer to “guarantee” enrollment for September school year seems very “fishy” to me. And lastly, the fact they retained my account information from 2015 also concerns me. This information should have be deleted from their databases once my child left in 2015.

The SIX weeks it took to get the refund from Apple M. was a horrible experience. I called and left messages for Maria regarding the situation and our emails were returned several days later. I escalated by calling the director of the school; but she was only able to provide little help since she does not have anything to do with payment processing. I even also escalated to the owner of the Apple M. – Joanne Mooney. I left voicemails and numerous messages and received no response. As the voicemails were not answered, I followed up with emails to Joanne M. and the same, no response.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau(Case ID: 12112651). The school located at 2825 Woodbridge Ave, Edison does NOT have BBB rating and it is not accredited by the BBB. This is also a concern to me.

As a result of this experience, we have decided NOT TO ENROLL our children here at the Edison/Metuchen Location(s). The 2825 Woodbridge Ave school may have had great ratings in the past; but based our latest experience with management/owners, we have decided to look elsewhere. There are just as comparable schools in the nearby vicinity with similar pricing/learning experiences and you should keep that in mind.

My wife and I work full time jobs and trying to resolve a dispute with a school doesn’t want to assist you, return phone calls or reply to emails to matters related to your children – is completely unacceptable and irresponsible. If you run into payment issues with Apple M., trust me — it will be become a difficult experience.

Also, in case you are wondering – Apple NEVER refunded our money. It was our Bank that reverted the funds as a result of their investigation.

My son got kicked out bc he never been to school before. Imagine that. He didn’t kick kids or act up, he just needed more time to adjust. So you pay so much money for a super awkward director who acts very sweet to get your money, then you hear the teachers talk about what a psycho she is instead of giving your child time to adjust. He didn’t run around screaming, he’d just like wander around in the new setting. Their communication was odd, an app that you had to wait for virtually no personal update.
My sisters daughter goes to a public school where they get updates and emails. Oh wow and they also just couldn’t handle the fact that my son’s father and I weren’t married but I had a husband so all three were involved. It was insane how they treated that situation. Very weird experience. The teacher was like a 20 year old who very clearly has no experience with children. It was just bizarre. SO bizarre. We put him in another Montessori school and he’s doing great.
I guess that place only takes kids who are culturally mild mannered and anything else is too much for them? I don’t know. Also a place open that long should have more reviews, I should have listened to what people said about it. The entire family hated it -especially my son. So I can’t imagine what this moron teacher did to single him out that he FELT it. And I’m not a jerkoff, if my kid was acting like a maniac then I’d get it. Not even close, he just didn’t know how to go through the motions. He needed nudging. You pay how much, the teachers can’t handle that? I can’t say enough about this strange, awful school. But my son was scared to go to a new school bc of it. I’m waiting for one day to see that weirdo missionary director lol
My daughter has been attending this school for over 1 year. She loves going to school here. She started in middle of a year but adjusted very quickly by her first week and I bet it’s was because of the teachers encouraging the other kids in the classroom to involve her etc. We love Mrs. Korenski (Benedetto) and her staff in the classroom and I continued my kid in this class during summer camp and new school her. The new outdoor classroom is great! Tuition is more expensive than regular daycare. Recently, I liked how they did an International day (different classroom had different regions) event and Olympics day in school. My daughter LOVED that.

Some things can be improved like many parents think a 12 pm nap time does not works for most kids older than 2 who wake up around 7-8am. Communication updates about your kid via the App is much less than what you get at a regular daycare. It could be more frequent but perhaps this is just because the teachers should be focusing on kids and not having phones out which is distracting to kids.

I had one issue in the past with being overcharged for extra week in summer camp but that was a mistake aknowledged and refunded quickly in next billing.

Overall, a great experience so far and would recommend.
