If I could give Park School more than 5 stars I would. Our son started here January 2023 after so many years of struggling academically with dyslexia dysgraphia and dyscalculia, Park school has truly been a blessing the gains that he has made in such a short time have been incredible and he is so happy here. I asked him recently what he loved about the school he gave me two answers the first was ‘ I love it because nobody turns round and looks at me in the classroom when I can’t spell a word and I have to ask …., from a child who has always struggled at school and always felt different he finally feels safe. He is in an environment that teaches the way he needs to learn and this is shining through, the growth we have seen academically and in his confidence has been so wonderful to watch. The small class sizes and teacher to student ratio make a huge difference to learning. along with the specialised OG method of teaching. He then went on to say ‘they are like my family,’ I said ahhh your class is like your family that’s lovely he said no mommy my whole school is like my family … that to me spoke volumes about Park school. All of the staff are amazing and truly want to make a difference to the students they are teaching. Our family can’t thank everyone at Park School enough we are excited to be a part of the Park School family and have just re enrolled for next school year 6th grade and are super excited to see they have now added 9th-12th grade
Awful experience with Principal Cherrie at Park School. Daughter attended 3rd grade and we re-enrolled mid-year as required. Class room structure changes were made and announced a few weeks before the start of this school year. The changes included moving classrooms every period to new/multiple teachers and increased student ratios. Those changes didn’t work for us and we were unsatisfied with progress made from the previous year so we requested release from our tuition contract 2 weeks prior to the start of school but our request was denied. Principal Cherrie was more then willing to tell us how great she was and how great these changes would be but she was not willing to listen to our concerns or discuss options for terminating our contract.
We paid tuition for 4 months (June-Sept) then the same day our state scholarship money was received by Park school we get a Friday afternoon email on the 20th day of school saying our daughter has been withdrawn from school and can not return.
Evidently other parents were raising concerns as well and Principal Cherrie felt as if our family was the ring leader so she kicked our kid out of school in an attempt to put out fires that were brewing with other unhappy parents.
On a positive note we did like teachers just didn’t like the structure, administration and lack of progress being made.
I have been a teacher at Park School since the very beginning. I have had the joy of witnessing the school grow and thrive over the years. I am blessed to work with a wonderful group of creative, innovative, compassionate, and encouraging teachers. They understand the dyslexic brain and they celebrate the gifts of dyslexia. The administrative team leads the school with kindness and encouragement. We have amazing students at Park School. Whether they are on the playground or on the stage, they are enthusiastic and creative. Park School emphasizes the arts and creativity in addition to academic learning. There are many opportunities for students to express themselves no matter what their interests and talents are. Park School is a safe and encouraging place for dyslexic learners.
