I want to pass along praise regarding this schools 2020 season volleyball team & coach! We have matched up with team on 3 separate occasions & from the 1st game I noticed what an amazing man the coach is! He seems to be a positive, supportive & Christian minded role model for the girls. Also, every player in that team is beyond courteous & well mannered!! It’s always been a positive experience to have this team on our schedule. I took 2 opportunities to tell the coach how awesome he was with the girls so he knew but felt the admin & players should also know the impression they make on others bc I’m not the only person at our school who feels thus way. The 2 players & 1 mom I had the chance to speak to during our area match up were such pleasant & positive individuals. I wish I knew all their names to post here! (Maybe the coach can help, I was the mom in the lot after area when the mom & daughter presented a thank you basket to the coach. Her daughter is a junior this year.) I just haven’t come across such pleasant young kids at schools I’ve visited this season who could even compare to these Oakwood students.
I also visited Oakwood’s campus a couple weeks ago when my daughters volleyball team (Decatur Heritage) played their team. This was their 2nd match this season. (The first Oakwood came to our school.) When I walked into the gym everything felt clean & I was greeted by a cheerful lady who looked to be an administrator or teacher. She was very personable & everyone working the door was wearing masks as their rules outlined. Entering the gym, I found they had the bleachers marked off for people to sit 6’+ away from the next & everyone in the gym has their mask on with the exception of some of the players which is acceptable. I was impressed by how clean the facility was & by how serious they’re treating COVID (unlike MANY schools we visited this season).
(Sorry for the long review. Positive should be reviewed & praised!
I am at my son’s graduation now. Worst graduation ever. The adults have made it all about them. Everyone teacher has accepted an award. Every adult had to be heard and seen. I almost forgot I was here to see my son graduate. This is not okay!!!The teacher appreciation should have been a seperate ceremony. So disappointing and God would not be pleased. This was not for the children but a shameless way for the adults to be seen.
