I think the teachers and classes are good, I’m making decent grades. I also made some friends there too. However, I am in Math 1, and the schedule is weird and confusing and I don’t even have a teacher for it (except the online course “teacher” in Raleigh). I also don’t see very much STEAM going on. I do like my teacher tho because the classes aren’t too dreadful and I actually learn things. Other things:
The dress code. Mostly with hats. Why no hats? They make up multiple excuses, “it’s unsafe” or “it’s disrespectful to wear hats inside” but none of them actually make sense. This is a district problem though.
They are a bit too harsh on punishments to some things, and too light to other things. At least they do punish children that misbehave.
We only go outside once a week (and that’s only for behaving kids), which is not enough to get fresh air and help our talkative class focus.
Overall, good school but could be improved.
The school is great for people transitioning from a smaller school. Academically, the school sticks to a classic method but has implemented technology. Student Government is a great new addition to our school(Vote for Sadie!!!!) and many other clubs provide fun and learning after school. Unfortunately, at the time I am writing this Asheville City Schools is a mess. Communication with the district is rare and slow. The school claims to be a steam school and all the teachers seem to want to try to make that happen. The teachers communicate with each other and often connect different subjects. The punishment/ reward system is very flawed. Kids who are almost always on task never get rewards and get punished as severely as those who constantly “act up”. Overall, this school is a great place to send children.
I use to go to this school in 2017 and I loved it I still do
