I don’t know how good this school about teaching knowledge. However, the system is a chaos. I saw a review said the teacher bring the student in and out safely, it is my main reason i want to leave my comment here. The school didn’t put the safety on top at all. First day of school, it is a chaos outside the door. School allows parents follow their kids go inside. Who knows if their are real parents. Second day, when i picked up my son at the door, i couldn’t see my son came out. I asked teacher where my son was. The teacher answered me she didn’t know and she would go inside to find out (of course she left all other kids outside the door). The school’s doors were all open. i saw other students came out by themselves. the street was full and mix all adults. Lucky that my son was just mixed with another class and still inside. There is no accountability in this school.
As a parent of a former student of James Ward I was extremely proud of my son’s academic career there. The teachers were loving and took time in making sure that each student especially my son was met and challenged at his instructional level. The school not only served as a learning center but a safe haven for all the children. I saw teachers season in and season out ensure that students got into the building safe and picked up safe as well. Thanks to Administration, principal Mrs. Anderson and Assistant Principal Mrs. Norville for working tirelessly to ensure that our children were safe and making sure that our needs as parents and advocates for our children were met. Overall, this school was one of many that I will say really helped my son and helped challenged his educational goals!
Thanks Ward Team, you guys rock!
James Ward is a gem in the South side of Chicago. Ward is 1+ World Language School that offers music, art, Spanish and Science Lab for all grades K-8 (PreK is also offered 1/2 day). The principal, Ms. Anderson is an experienced, well-informed and focused on ensuring her teachers are supported and students are growing and learning. It is a CPS school which means the school has to adhere to district guidelines, mandates and sways of the political machine, but the school leadership and culture is inclusive and maintains an open-door policy. Our choice option has been an great one.
