What an amazing place! Matt made getting signed up and scheduled a real breeze, and their website made billing super easy and stress free. Matt even went out of his way to help make accommodations for when lessons had to be moved or changed, offering to teach a lesson himself when my regular teacher was out of town. His communication was always clear, friendly and professional.
Robin, my teacher, is not only a phenomenal player and student of guitar and music theory himself, but also an amazingly kind, fun and patient teacher. These attributes rarely go so hand in hand, but he really had both the knowledge and skill to make (re)learning the guitar fun and rewarding. He would regularly find songs and riffs from my own musical interests to highlight and practice certain skills and theories that we had previously discussed, insuring each lesson was challenging enough, while still setting me up for success to play the sort of music I was interested in. Can’t say enough about the team at Milwaukie Guitar!
For 20+ years, all i knew were about 4 open chords on a guitar and three songs, and my wife (now) finally told me that i need to take lessons. I am so thankful that Matt was giving lessons in my neighborhood at the time, and i was able to start taking them. Almost immediately my knowledge of guitar and music theory exploded and i started to understand why things worked they way they did. Now 7+ years later, i am still taking lessons and continuing to learn and learn that there is so much more to learn and am very excited to keep learning all i can from Matt for as long as i can.
Not only, am i learning and getting better at actually playing, but having Matt as a teacher has given me the confidence that I actually played guitar and sang to my wife at our wedding in front of 100+ people, which i never would have every thought i would be able to do. Even just played in a jam session with other students of Milwaukie School of Guitar and had a ton of fun.
Couldn’t recommend more!
Great music school and super convenient for those near downtown Milwaukie. David has been super flexible about tailoring traditional teaching methods to help achieve my goals as an adult. I’ve got experience in music but lacked technique on bass. He’s got great technical and musical knowledge, and I always take new strategies to apply directly to playing better bass in my band.
Jo is teaching my 6 year old daughter piano (and encouraging voice and even percussion). She is super warm to both my kids and finds ways to get my daughter to apply her stories and everyday life to music, which makes it stick very naturally.
Matt is great at connecting new students to a teacher that best meets their needs, and communication/organization from him is excellent. Thats pretty rare in a music school and as an engineer…I appreciate their reliability!
