I love taking tango classes with Gustavo and Jesica! They are world class teachers–clear in their instruction, kind and patient in their interactions with students. I have been taking private classes with Gustavo for a couple of years now. He always stresses the importance of solid body integration as the foundation of a graceful movement. Through constant, patient reinforcement of the basics, he has helped me overcome many of my bad movement habits (and I have many). With his help I am also able to increase my sensitivity to/awareness of whoever I am dancing with, while maintaining more control of my own axis and balance at the same time. This is very hard! These details make all the difference in my dancing. The best way to make progress in your tango is to make the investment in private classes, in addition to the group classes.
I highly recommend Motion Arts Center. I can’t say enough good things about this place. They offer a wide range of dance styles, so there’s definitely a class for whatever style you’re looking for. Chris and Jessica, in particular, are spectacular instructors. Their expertise in salsa and bachata is evident, and they have a unique ability to break down complex moves into simple, easy-to-follow steps. I’ve been dancing on and off for years, but I manage to learn new techniques to improve my form with every class I attend.
The teachers here are wonderful— we took lessons with Jesica and Chris. They are great at assessing the skill level in group classes and calibrating appropriately. They make it fun and rewarding to learn to dance. We also bought custom dance lessons, and we had a great experience with Chris. He was attentive, thorough, and a really nice guy to work with. We had a fantastic set of choreography that we were so excited about at the end of our lessons.
Highly recommend.
