It’s time for the secret to get out. Children of Peace is a fantastic school in the heart of the Illinois Medical District. Our daughter has attended the past two years and we couldn’t be happier. Small class sizes, a diverse student body, dedicated teachers, coupled with all the extras – music, art, and gym. Children of Peace is integrated with Holy Trinity School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. All children take American Sign Language as a second language. Not only is this just plain cool, but also puts inclusion, equity, and compassion at the center of the student experience. To top it off, the school offers both Montessori and traditional programs and enjoys a close relationship with the students at St. Ignatius High School. They’ve done an excellent job keeping our daughter safe and healthy (and in person!) this school year (2020-2021). Highly recommend.
This school used to be called Holy Trinity back in the 80s. I remember the principal’s name was Miss Phyllis Winter. I also remember the day my view of the police changed forever! We had always had Officer Friendly come to our school and it was always a pleasant experience until one year for some godforsaken reason they brought an officer in that talked about how police have the right to shoot people in the back! That forever skewed my view of the police!
My niece is a student in the Montessori program and she loves her teachers, Ms.Marylu Dukic and Mrs.Mennella. She has struggled in the past but somehow Ms.Dukic has brought out the desire for learning. My brother can’t stop singing the praises of this amazing teacher.
