We started our son at MRS at 2 3/4 years old. We had been reading about the Montessori method of teaching, and visited the school with him during one of their open houses. We initially visited looking for preschools for the future, and were surprised when the staff told us he could start at such a young age. We enrolled him immediately, and I could not be more glad that we made the choice to send him to MRS.

After just one year we have seen a significant change in both his behavior/social skills, and his aptitude. I had the fortunate ability to sit in and observe a class – one of the most impressive things about this school is the independence, yet structure, that children are given. Young kids in Children’s House (ages 2.75-6) have 2 full hours of independent and/or one-on-one time with teachers. The different activities (“work”) that children engaged in without direction at such a young age, and their ability to stay on task and disciplined in the classroom without much intervention from staff, was remarkable.

I cannot wait to watch our son grow and progress in the Montessori schooling processes at MRS. We plan to place our youngest child there when the time is right for him. Five+ stars for this educational gem in Anoka.

We had to leave MRA because of moving. If the situation was different, I think we would’ve stayed with MRA family for as long as they would take us. Not only that they have the greatest teachers and staff, but they also try to stay on top of things with technology, security, social media and most of all education. I admire the Montessori philosophy and would definitely recommend this school if you are looking to see your child(ren) thrive now and in the future.

My son attended MRA during his preschool years where he thrived academically, emotionally, and socially. Ms. Tanya prepared him well for kindergarten, and helped him reach his limits outside his comfort zone. I do appreciate that.

MRA families are just awesome, I have not throughout the 2.5 or 3 years encountered any bad situation with any of the parents, and this is not that often in the school system.

Now, we are still struggling to find a good preschool. MRA raised the bar very high, we are not able to find a school that is up to those standards. Thank you Mike, and all the teachers, administration staff and everyone else in the MRA family!

After my son’s first year of preschool, his teacher told us he had made no progress since the beginning of the year. Having worked in the public school system, I knew my son would continue to struggle if we didn’t find something different for him. He was always resistant to learning new things and participating in group activities. He would pretend like he was doing what everyone else was to stay out of trouble. When I learned about Minnesota Renaissance School I was intrigued by the idea that my son would be able to learn at his own pace and would be doing individualized work. Within a few months of starting Minnesota Renaissance, he was starting to make progress on learning letters and became more willing to work on learning new things. By the end of his first year he was excited to learn and was always asking for new things to learn and for harder work. It is unbelievable to me what Minnesota Renaissance School has done for my sons love of learning and for his confidence.
