We LOVE Cantera! We’ve seen such a positive change in our son since starting at Cantera. We were at another “school” in Georgetown and our son was constantly getting diaper rashes, bit by other kids (without the teachers realizing it), a LOT of staff turnover and he wasn’t happy at drop off. We attended that school for 8 months and he never was happy at drop off. Now, he actually asks to go to school and is EXCITED to be there! When we turn onto Cantera dr, he says “almost there” and starts to get excited. After his doctors check up a few days ago, we asked him if he wanted to go home for the day or to school and he said (at 2 years old) “no mama. No home. School!” We are so grateful to have discovered Cantera- the teachers (Montessori guides) are amazing. We have a special place in our hearts for Ms Christie- she is proof there are angels on earth. The head of school, Mrs Milinh along with the owners of the school have a heart for Montessori, fostering child development in a calm and safe space and, above all, love every child as if they were their own. Witnessing the compassion the administration and all staff have for the children is beyond what I could have envisioned.

From the educational perspective, their curriculum is stellar. Activities change daily and themes change weekly and monthly. Children learn about a concentrated area and things that correspond with it. One week, my sons class explored caterpillars evolving into butterflies. He was so excited to see them grow, create their cocoon, and emerge as butterflies. He talked about butterflies for days!

Lastly, the communication is amazing! There is an app where you can see daily reports, photos and notes/important updates. But my favorite part are the weekly notes to tell families how and what the the children have accomplished that week and how we as parents can explore and discuss those topics. Something that’s unique and makes me feel at ease is that the head of schools office is right as you walk in the front door. She is always smiling, greets each family as they walk-in for the day and is available should a need for discussion arise.

Your child coming to Cantera will not only change your child’s life, but yours. You eyes will open to what early childhood education should really be!

I love everything about Cantera Montessori! Our son is always so happy to go there and the school is really clean. The teachers are amazing, highly skilled in early childhood, they care about the children different needs and tailor activities to the child’s preference and interest.

Everyday we receive progress updates and photos from our son, which is really nice. The school has been very profesional, keeping track of our son’s progress and keeping us updated on every detail. I highly recommend this wonderful Montessori school!

We loved our time at Cantera. We were there from the time they opened until it was time for our kiddo to go to Kindergarten! She loved going to school every day. I always felt at ease leaving her in their care. I’m sad we couldn’t have had this great of an experience for all of her early education! Miss Michele in the Hawthorn community is exceptional! Our daughter learned so much during her time here!
