Omg where to begin. This school has the absolute worst principal ever!! I wasn’t even a student there but an older sister coming to visit, who was yelled at by the principal on more than one occasion. I am an emergency room nurse who would visit my little sister and would be treated as a student and yelled at for: #1 having a cell phone out, #2 walking the halls with no hall pass. Yes I do look young and could pass for a high school student but no one deserves to be yelled at and treated like less of a person! And I have been accused of not obtaining a “visitors pass”, when visiting my sister, for lunch by the principal when I went through the office, located at the front desk, to sign in and NEVER was offered a “visitor’s pass”. The principal was only out to punish a “who he thought was a student” who had their phone in their hand hugging a friend of their siblings. Little did he know that I was not a Student and was left with not other defense but to tell me that I had no visitor’s pass and would be kicked out without one. Aweful principal for sure! Only out to punish students in his lime green long sleeve shirt and round belly, overall resembling “The Grinch”.
All of the negative reviews concerning the actions of former principal Mark Rowicki and Stephanie Corbit are unwarranted. They dressed up as political figures for Halloween simply as a comedy stunt (although dressing up as Hillary Clinton in prison garb was definitely making an inappropriate political statement). The school itself and the quality of the education I have received is excellent; there are many opportunities to succeed at Lee High School, which include Dual Enrollment and AP classes to earn college credit. In addition, the staff are very helpful and are always ready to assist you if you have questions.
Great school. The teaching staff is incredibly passionate, and when compared to other nearby schools, students seem to outperform their peers. The school gets a bad rep because of the admittedly questionable name; however, once you step foot inside the front doors, it is immediately obvious how accepting and diverse the community is. I also discourage those of you who have not been to Staunton or been inside the the school to write negative reviews; you know nothing of the beautiful flourishing community that truly exists within the doors.
