Has anyone on the school board done their research? Robert E. Lee wasn’t a slaveholder. His wife’s family owned the slaves. When his wife inherited her father’s slaves, Lee legally tried to free them in 1862. Calling Lee a “treasonous traitor” is ridiculous. That would mean all of the founding fathers were traitors. If someone is attacking your home or state, you defend it. Besides, most Stauntonites don’t want the name change according to an online poll.
Just absolute garbage for human beings. Thinking our children are wards of the state and these so called second rate educators are their parents. The school board elected know nothing about children. It’s an elected civil rights movement.
The school board needs new leadership. Someone who can speak for the youth and not for their own glory. Someone who has children currently in Staunton schools.
