As far as the therapist there, they were great but I had a several issues with the actual teachers. My son was once left outside by himself. At the time he was only 2. Another time he came home with scratches all around his head. It was as if someone dug their nails into his head. When I picked him up from school no one said a thing. I noticed it once we got in the car. When I asked about it all I got was that he was banging his head on a crib at nap time. My son has never! He’s not aggressive. Nor has he ever been so aggressive that he caused harm to himself or anyone else. He’s genuinely a very mild mannered sweet boy that loves to be loved on. He’s affectionate! His teachers and staff at the school he’s in now LOVE him and his personality. I can be out and people know him from school and walk up to get a hug. At this school (Opportunities) was THE ONLY place that my son did not want to go. I once witnessed one of the teachers being unnecessarily rough with a child by forcefully pulling the child by their arms to sit down and was disgusted. Any incident that happened their cameras never worked. But I want to acknowledge again that the front staff and therapists were a joy. I gained personal relationships with them. They no longer work there but we are still in contact. The paraprofessionals/teachers there are sketchy. To this day, when I’ve spoke with former workers they admit to the teachers being abusive to the children. I’m in limbo about this review because my son was on several of their flyers and because of them my story as a single mom of a child with Down syndrome was published in a local magazine. I don’t want this to be a complete negative but I do want to say that if you’re considering sending your child just be careful because some of the teachers are there only for a check and not because they have a passion for or love children. Therapist and other staff on the front end: 5 stars. Paraprofessionals: 1 Star. If I still lived in Texarkana… my daughter would only use their at home services. I wouldn’t dare send my child or recommend anyone else to send their child full time. Not all teachers are this way. There’s one that was the sweetest and loved the kids. She still checks on my son. It was when she left when questionable things begin to happen and not just with me! Other parents had concerns and we never would get a response that was calming or reassuring. I kept my son home lots of days. You can’t just walk in and look in on your child like most daycares. The staff is alerted before you can even go back and it normally takes a bit before you’re allowed to which is VERY unsettling and sketchy. I hope that by now they’ve gotten rid of the bad seeds and have better teachers there for the beautifully unique kids that attend.
