We did extensive research in the area for the best school for our 2 little ones. We toured several facilities and spoke with staff. Goddard was our top choice for the following reasons:

– Low turnover of staff. Most of the teachers have been here for years. This shows their engagement and satisfaction with their work here which makes for happier kids.

– Lower student to teacher ratios. My feelings have been a little mixed on this one because we moved from outside of continental US where the student teacher ratios were significantly better than here. For example, my 1.5 year old was in a class with 2 teachers for 7 students. Here he moved to a class of 2 teachers for 10 students. However, in Arizona and Chandler area, everything else we found was even worse! So Goddard is relatively superior in this area for the local market.

– We liked that Goddard does not provide lunch, as we have nutritional preferences that wouldn’t be accommodated by any of the neighbouring schools that had the lunch option (with many canned foods). Many other daycares and preschools did not accommodate to bring a home lunch or snacks.

– Last but not least, when we did a tour with Ms. Darlene, she was the most receptive and engaged compared to others in the area. The owner Mr. Todd does an outstanding job with the Goddard, which shows through all of his interactions with parents and children, as well as the dedication of all teachers and staff.

Our experience over the last year has been up to and beyond expectations. The teachers have been caring and attentive. We’ve had especially positive experiences with Ms. Fely, Ms. Ashley and Ms. Maya in the baby room. We’ve heard Ms. Lori is also great in the second baby room. Ms. Carmen has been wonderful in the toddler room, as well as Ms. Lea and Ms. Jessica.

My baby is always really happy to see Ms. Fely, and my toddler is learning a lot in Ms. Lea and Ms Jessica ‘s classroom. He is also really excited to go to school every day.

The outdoor facilities are excellent and we love that the children spend an hour outside every day, weather permitting.

2 things I wish were better:

1.the kids get shuffled to the next classroom based on age every 6 months or so, after 1 year old. I feel this doesn’t help with peer and teacher attachments and relationships. We came from a school where the entire academic year was spent with the same group of children and same 2 teachers. Perhaps Goddard ‘s approach is designed to maximize age-appropriate learning, however we do feel there is more merit in more secure teacher attachments and peer relationships.

2. Occasionally, there have been gaps in communication between staff, including among teachers, and with administration. Nothing that can’t be fixed with persistence and communication at the end of a teacher’s shift to the next teacher, etc… or commnicating directly to teachers multiple times. However, we do wish the school had a better internal process to pass any notes at shift changes.

Overall, Goddard has been an excellent choice for us and we’re happy to send our kids to learn, play and meet new friends there.

We were touring and decided to move forward with enrolling our daughter at the Goddard School, chandler location. We felt very welcomed from when we entered and my daughter enjoyed it as we were walking around, even when leaving she didn’t want to leave. She ran to the door of what would be her classroom which made me laugh and light bulb in this is comforting as she is only 2 years old. We look forward to having her start during the summer program and the beginning school year. We haven’t met the owner yet but I communicated via email and very responsive and they answer all your questions. What stood out to me was the longevity of the employees and teachers, providing parent teacher conferences, and flexibility of hours with parents work schedules. And one really important thing was open door policy of when and how often we can pop in and check on our daughter.
My child has attended this school for almost a year now. This school has a family vibe to it. During drop off and pick up time the staff, director, and owner welcomes you in and addresses you and your child by name. When choosing a child care for my child I look for longevity of the teachers. If the teachers are happy they stay with minimal staff turnover. The Goddard School has teachers who have been there for over ten years. My child loves going to school, playing with her friends, and getting creative with the art activities offered. This school knows the importance of family involvement and offers family events throughout the year. It is tremendous fun and a great opportunity to connect with other families.
