My daughter started Village East fall of 2017 per recommendation of another parent, at the time of enrollment we were in the middle of moving and staying with a friend per which her address was linked to Village East…. the year started off great! Back to School night was very inviting but when I spoke to the counselor of my childs struggles in school and that this was her 3rd year in a new school she seemed very eager to help and check in with her…. that never happened. I never met the principal face to face nor could I pick him out of a crowd at the school until I looked at his picture on the school website. I know he has 100s or students and parents to deal with on top of running a school a dont discredit his role, what disappointed me is that when certain students are struggling, he should have been more involved. My daughter attended Timberline Elementary in 1st Gradr and the principal personally reached out to me when he saw her attendance slipping and asked what he could personally do to help with her transition, that was much appreciated! Last week I submitted her intradistrict form to at least finish out the school year as our address was linked to another Elementary near by, he denied our time within 24 hours, not even thinking of the transition and improvements that my student had made at Village East. The only person I received true support from was her teacher Mrs Salario and I am forever grateful to her. I have spoken to 3 different administrators in the Cherry Creek School District who have told me they had never seen a child denied with only 3 months left of the school year. I hope this never happens to another child struggling in school just because her address is linked else where. DISSAPPOINTING
???????????????????Horrible school. I can’t give too many details because my child still goes to this school unfortunately. However, the school nurse is very rude. I asked her to keep something private and she told everyone. The black lady that works as the assistant to the principal is very bit**y and always asks for personal information in front of other people. Every time there’s been an incident with bullying I am never notified by the school. Sometimes it takes a week after the incident to be notified by my child alone. Miss Johnson is extremely rude to the children. She makes the kids sit out at recess if they dont know the answer to her questions when called upon. She is the only teacher in the fifth grade that won’t allow the kids to have a snack in the afternoon. REDICULOUS. My child was pushed to the ground on purpose at by a repetitious bully at recess and the TA made my child sit out and let the other kid keep playing. She wouldn’t even listen to my child’s side first! Bullying happens on a constant basis there. They dont even grade spelling mistakes! Horrible place, choose elsewhere if you are able! ?? Mine will be removed in less than a month.
I was at this school for three years (kindergarten-2) In which my last year there, I was playing with my friend when a few kids wouldn’t stop harassing us. Eventually it turned into a fight. We told a TA and she said: you weren’t crying when you got here. I was lucky enough to have good teachers. But the overall experience with this school was not great. No one cares about the on going bullying at the school. It’s sad and pathetic how rude some teachers are. In first grade a teacher attempted to get me in trouble with my parents. Eventually when I moved schools, she was a substitute and said: you are a lot thinner now. Obviously implying that I was ‘fat’ for a 1st grader.
