Since the people of the school want to silence my experience, I’ll keep posting this! Alpine vista school is okay, the pep rally’s are good, some of the staff are good, but the principle is not that good, During my time at this school I fell down on concrete in the cafeteria, and luckily for me I didn’t injure a disk in my back. But that’s beside the point, I was in the cafeteria and the principle was right next to me and I told her breathlessly, and crying that I wanted to call my mom, and she said nooo hunny you can’t call mom right now. But she did tell me to get up (rudely) whilst I was already getting up. After the nurse I went back to class but the pain was unbearable, so after 2 hours of pushing through that pain I told my teacher I needed to go to the nurses office, for my back was in pain. My dad gets called in and takes me out of school, and in the car I tell him what happened, he’s in utter disbelief, and shock. And went right back into the school, to talk to the principal about my concrete incident, and of course she wasn’t there. So around 2 days later she finally called my dad. And said “Well I thought she meant her phone.” As if I would just whip out my phone, and call my mom. Also around 2 years ago there was mold in the food.
My son is currently in his third year attending AV School. During his fourth-grade year, he had the privilege of being under the guidance of Mrs. Mendez, who truly stands out as one of the most exceptional educators I’ve ever encountered. She possesses remarkable qualities, including extraordinary patience and genuine kindness. However, the subsequent year, during fifth grade, my son’s experience took a complete turn when he was placed in Mrs. Rodriguez’s class. Unfortunately, Mrs. Rodriguez’s teaching approach was a stark contrast to Mrs. Mendez’s, marked by her poor behavior and a lack of respect for parents. The situation deteriorated to the point where I felt compelled to reach out to the school’s vice principal, Mrs. Copley. Unfortunately, my interaction with Mrs. Copley left me disheartened, as she did not seem willing or able to provide any assistance. We are hopeful for a more positive experience in sixth grade, but we’ll see…
I noticed that most teachers show preferential treatment to students whose parents are teachers or staff members who work at the school—I go here. *Sometimes contributing to unjust inequities. For example, students whose parents are teachers or staff members are more fortunate to get into limited-space electives like Leadership or AVID. Despite the prevailing circumstances, Alpine Vista School often promotes relationships and a positive mindset toward learning, and the curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and 21st-century skills! As a school, Alpine Vista is a good school in the Tulare City School District that promotes top education 🙂 .
