I had a undisciplined unorthodox upbringing as a child. It made me act out and I was deemed as “troubled”. I bounced from school to school and was expelled from one. After that not many other schools would take me (2003-2004 time period). My grandmother enrolled me into Dallas Academy for my 8th grade. Even at that point I ran into some problems. This school didn’t give up on me. They have a tremendous staff that cares about their students. They supported me and reached out and taught me in a way that made sense to me. They got me enrolled in sports to make sure I stayed on the right path. I played baseball basketball and football. They even gave me a job after school hours to give me a little bit of spending money during high school and taught me some great life lessons.

They made sure I graduated and They encouraged me to go to college and even helped me enroll and visit some colleges. Even though I didn’t go to college the staff never seemed disappointed in me when I would talk to them again, which made me feel good because college just wasn’t for me. The biggest thing they want is for their students to be successful and they succeeded in that. With the life skills and subjects in school Dallas Academy taught me I have been quite successful and I owe a lot to this organization!!

When every other school didn’t want any part of me DA took me in and helped me succeed. That’s the measure of a school. I highly recommend this school and thank them for everything they’ve done for me.

Having been the parent of a Dallas Academy child for almost 3 years there are not enough good things I can iterate regarding our family’s experience. Our child struggled mightily in public school, everything from bullying to lack of care and attention from teachers and coaches culminated into a child that was depressed, socially awkward and failing in school. The move to Dallas Academy not only turned a corner for our child but has made him feel successful in academics and sports but also has helped him blossom as a young man with friends and respect for his parents. His learning disabilities (ADHD/Dyslexia) are accommodated appropriately and he does not feel like an outcast as he did before. It has been remarkable to watch our child grow with teachers, coaches and staff that truly care about him and his success. I cannot wait until our youngest child can also attend Dallas Academy as I want to cultivate the same experience for him. If you have a child that can benefit from the smaller class sizes, the care and attention of great teachers and coaches and needs an environment to thrive in then Dallas Academy offers an experience that I believe is second to none in the Dallas area.
My son has been attending Dallas Academy for 3 years. We arrived at Dallas Academy following horrible experiences in public and other private schools. Dallas Academy has proven to be the answer for my son’s learning challenges. The teachers are compassionate, well-educated, and dedicated to the well-being of the children in their classroom. Administration has undergone some changes over the past year and we have been thrilled with the access and transparency offered to the parents. Elizabeth Murski is now Head of School and has brought welcomed and helpful change.

I do feel compelled to respond to the negative reviews. Each child is different and Dallas Academy is not the answer for ALL children. They are the answer for children with learning differences and are by far the superior answer. If you are considering this school, you can ask for contact information for other parents who have children there. We had a “mentor family” when we arrived and I know this practice still exists. We believe our child’s education is the foundation for his success. We also believe that Dallas Academy is pivotal to his foundation.
