This school does NOT follow the Montessori way. They are very forceful about students learning by their way only and not encouraging kids to find multiple ways to solve a problem. They did not treat my daughter, who is neurodivergent, well. Montessori schools are supposed to let children learn at their own pace, which this school does not. Their continuous use of force caused many meltdowns for my child and she would come home completely disheveled and refusing to go to school most days because of how she was treated. We, her parents, were called in for meetings where I tried to explain her condition to them and tried to do as they suggested to do to try and get our child to their standards. When none of that worked they suggested physical punishment, on a neurodivergent child. Once they realized that my daughter was a special case and not something that they wanted to nourish, they kicked her out 2 months before the end of the school year and tried to make it out like it was our fault. And to add insult to injury, they sent her home with a field trip permission slip to the zoo that she couldn’t even go to because they were kicking her out because she was neurodivergent.
This year we sent her to Western Avenue and have not had a single issue with either teachers or students. In fact, my daughter is top of her class behaviorally. Western Avenue will not just give up on my child like this one did.
-10/10 , will not send my other child to this school, ever.
My son started attending when he was 2 and The Montessori method has taught him not only educationally, but he has independence and other practical things that traditional education would not. I would recommend FMS to everyone as a stepping stone to Help make future educational decisions.
I love this school. This will be my daughters second year. She has grown so much since starting. The guides and staff are amazing, kind and warm. The community is diverse . I am extremely please with my choice to have my daughter here
