this school is amazing, it was not strict at all! the guys bathrooms were wild , some kid started hanging on the windows and making making monkey sound mocking this one friend of mine. the girls bathroom had instructions on how to make out which helped me out a lot. some kid stole a gituar from the music room and a teacher got sooooo mad and started chasing him all around the oval which was so hilarious, hilight of my school cerea. the learn the was mid, didn’t learn anything but its alr . DEFF RECOMEND GOING TO THIS SCHOOL !!
One of the most backwards thinking schools I’ve had the displeasure of attending.

When a young girl wanted to do “shave for a cure” at the age of 13, she was advised no. the school said they would not support her of the cause and in-fact discriminate her for shaving her head. This in turn suffered consequences when she acted upon the cause, trying to raise funds for her uncle.

She was banned from asking for donations from staff and peers, and was subjected to threats of suspension if she followed through with the shave.

Anomalies also included; hair for a young man longer than the ear would lead to an infringement. Young females/other wearing a dark coloured bra, piercings more than the standard “one piercing per lobe” (even if it was a singular second above said piercing) socks under stockings in the middle of winter (?) socks above stockings in the middle of winter (?) shirt being untucked before entering your bus ride home (well past the 4:15pm if you caught a later bus) no disabled child/s ramps.

This school is somewhat backwards in education and ironic in any form of forward thinking. If your child is in any way different from the crowd, or disabled please do not send them to this school.

Overall a good school. The all-new Josephite Learning Centre is amazing, just make sure you don’t accidentally slam your hand in a door, and try not to distract students in other rooms through the glass walls. A hat is absolutely necessary if you plan on going outdoors at recess or lunch. Don’t forget to breathe when Mr Nicholls’ does one of his heart-stopping dramatic pauses during the weekly assemblies. And finally, remember to “never see a need without doing something about it” whilst on the premises.
The best, and only option for a school in Taree, However as a student who was here for for their entire higher education, it is in serious need of reformation. The previous principals have been excellent, and have performed the school well (Especially Principal Dempsy and Kelly), however the current principal (who I will not name) quite frankly is unfair, and on many occasions, incompetent. Some of the department heads (HSIE, etc) during my time were incompetent, and cruel people. The school spends their money in all the wrong places, students get stuck in demountable buildings instead of approving and building proper learning spaces. The principal is scrapping expeditions and camps which bring students together, forcing blatantly ridiculous rules (eg must wear a hat at all times when outside), and quite frankly taking the school many steps back. The school has almost no SCEM dept, and poorly organises timetables, preventing senior students from being able to study what they dream to. In honesty, I see the rules being made here very similair and restricting to that of a Primary school.

However, amongst all these negatives, the school has some aspects which make it shine out. There are certain teachers, for more reasons than I can list, go out of their way to do the best they possibly can for students. There are some excellent pathways and options offered that allow students to go where they want to go. I wouldn’t have of gone to any other school In Taree, however in the end it is simply a regional school, and it has restrictions on it that city schools do not. Avoid Taree High, MVAC, TCC, and especially Chatham High, St Clare’s is your best option. However, Know that this school is seriously mismanaged right at the top, and for it to take a step forward, the current principal needs to step back.

Amazing school. The learning environment is great, and the teachers are kind, encouraging and good at their job. Minimal bullying and conflict. A great school.
