I grew up and graduated in the West Irondequoit School District. I currently live within the district and I have children attending the public schools here now. Unfortunately, the overall quality and prestige of the district has dropped. I found that the district is so much more focused on social issues and concerns rather then the essential academics that are needed to be productive. Social issues do have their place in study, but they saturate the school district to the point of concern. One only needs to look at how American students fair academically against international students. We are behind! Now there are multiple reasons we are behind, but we do have control over our curriculum. If we do not have control over our curriculum, then we need to get it!
Excellent school district with quality education balanced with excellent art, sports and music programs which means your kid will have a chance in succeeding in many ways while going to school… not just focused on AP placement as other local schools districts… this one strives to develop our children into their full potential.
The field quality is excellent as well as a nice playground and it’s always nice to watch baseball or football there in season
