This is a horrible environment that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. As a former student, I’m not going to tell you about my personal experience with the participating student body, because obviously that varies by class and such. The teachers are all great, you can tell that they really care about their students. The gifted program is better than any other I’ve been through, as it provides actual support as opposed to mindless tasks. The administration, however, completely ruins any positive opinion I have on this facility. Administration is a large oppressive body that does not take student or parent concerns to heart, but rather sweeps them under the rug and damage the students who place them. Instead of teaching active conversation and showing what real change/ your voice can do to your community, it shows that the person with more power will always get to have it and it will always stay that way, despite your best efforts. I would say that things may have changed, or at least I would hope, but knowing the toxic culture of Rocky Mountain Classical Academy, and knowing the patterns that have been in place for years and years, steer as far away as you can
I highly recommend RMCA! My oldest started middle school there when we moved. Hes in high school now. But I do have a 7th and a Kindie who currently attend, and I STILL love the school. The culture is great, the relationships between the staff and between parents and teachers is what really does it for me.
We’ve had little issue with other kids (normal stuff) but the faculty and teachers have always taken my concerns seriously. They always talk to the student(s) etc. To resolve any issues. I’ve never ever heard of a fight occuring there!
I’ve never understood why their ratings are low either. Really, I have nothing negative to say other than I wish that they ran a 9-12 program! ????
Also, because it is a charter school- they have a more classical approach. We haven’t had to worry about certain subjects being pushed in the classroom or on our children. Academically, the school really strives. I taught my son a lot prior to Kindergarten. I can see such a huge difference since he’s been going.
We love RMCA! We have been with this school from prek through 5th so far, and will stay through middle school. We love the administration, teachers, other staff, other parents and students here. They demand a level of excellence in academics, but it is appropriate and not overboard. More than that, they care about the character of our kids! They have so much fun at this school with all of the hands on learning opportunities, fun events, and great field trips! If youre looking for a great place for your kids to grow at, look no further!
