I am a parent of an middle school student .This is our first year at the prep. I had high hopes and expected great things. It’s been everything but. The bullying at this school far exceeds anything I have ever seen. Yes bullies are everywhere, some peoples children are just awful people. However, banning does NOT take this issue seriously at ALL. It has to get really bad before they step in. And for the record I’m not talking about “kids not getting along” I’m speaking about serious bullying. News worthy bullying.
Some teachers have been amazing and helpful. Great attitudes a great desire to teach. However 1 teacher In particular has been by far the worst teacher I have ever met. She’s rude, crass, yells, and as I’ve heard from other students ” she just hates life”. She’s the ONLY teacher that teaches the subjects so there is no other option. My child has had 3 math teachers this year alone. One of them had a break down in class, started crying and walked out. She did return in a week. However that caused alot of stress to the students. There are substituts weekly. I’ve read all the reviews on here. I hear alot of the kids pain. I feel for them because I can understand why they feel the way they do about the bully situation, the teachers, and the ” favorites” that some have. Although my child isn’t favored and hasn’t had an issue with this I can completely understand how any feel this way.
I do hear the high school part is way better. I can’t speak to this personally because I haven’t seen it yet. Maybe we will attend high school here and see…maybe not.
I will leave any parent who reads this review with this… suicide rates are the highest in teenager’s. Studies show the majority of the cause is from school, bullies and the stress this causes. Either schools start to take this seriously and get the bad kids out of the schools or this will never change. IF banning took charge and removed the terrible kids that go here, this school would Excell. Instead… they sit. They sit on a very bad high horse. And at what cost? What are YOU willing to loose ? Your child’s life? Their mental health? Their self esteem ? .. its hard finding a “perfect” school. Nothing will be perfect. And that’s ok. What’s not ok is a toxic school environment. This part of the school bleeds toxic. ( middle school)
If I could give this school 0 stars I would. Most teachers were more worried about implementing the deans rules and policies rather than teaching. Once I switched to a public high school, Vista Ridge, I came to understand they were not worried about our education even in the slightest. Either you did the assignment and passed or you didn’t. Tests were based on if you actually tried to teach yourself, because most teachers did not. Assignments were assigned via schoology and you did them when you could. That is not teaching. I was doing my homework to pass, but never learning. Tons of other students could agree with that. I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to switch, at my public school we are encouraged to ask questions and are actually engaged in lessons and are not worried about getting the homework done because we are actually LEARNING. Students at banning would rather be on their phones in class because class time is not being used by teachers to actually teach. It is being used to tell the students what their homework is and to get it done. Class time would be used to address dress code and phones and headphones instead of teaching lessons! If you are considering having your child attend here, please think twice if you are worried for their education.
If I could give this school zero stars I would. This was an ok school until that Dean Lynn came to the school. They are biased toward children of color. The Dean is hellbent in ruining children of color and their future.
Do not take your kids here. My child went from a 2.6GPA to less than one.

Racist school I have ever come across. The teachers are so stressed out by the dean’s expectations that they’ve become zombies instead of educators.
