I decided to have my 15 month old son attend this daycare 2x a week so he could get out of the house a little while & socialize with other kids his age. As it’s right across the street from my apartment with good (though limited reviews) it seemed like a great option.
We weren’t able to meet his teacher or do a tour.
He went those 2x a week for two weeks only. I never talked to his teacher even though I was told I would be able to if I called – which I did the first day, the lady in the office went to check on my son instead & just told me he was playing & was fine. I sent 10+ diapers, baby wipes, and diaper cream, all of which was missing from his diaper bag when I picked him up. I did have another kids blanket though.
When we picked him up the afternoon of the first day, he was starving and thirsty like he’d barely had anything all day. The daily sheet they’re supposed to fill out literally only had diaper changes and meal times listed.
The last day (yesterday) when my fiancé picked him up, he’d apparently had a blowout at 9:30 IN THE MORNING & was without a shirt after that until 430 in the afternoon despite there being a change of clothes in his diaper bag. When we took off his shoes we realized he was also missing one of his socks for some reason. Again – they put his shoe on with no sock despite having socks on when we dropped him off.
Needless to say, terrible first experience with a daycare & he will not be going back.
It was a great daycare when Ms. Lavita was there, I felt at ease and safe dropping my kid off but now… it’s not the same anymore and my child will not be attending this daycare again. They need to clean the whole building inside because I’m tired of my child constantly getting sick week after week that requires hospital visits and prescription antibiotics, the vibe is completely off, it never smells clean, and the teachers do not engage with the children. They all just sit there on their phones as if they are at home baby sitting not caring if parents see them or not. I can’t tell who is a parent or teacher because the staff wears no uniformity of colors or at least scrubs. These small issues can definitely be fixed but nothing is being done. My kid hates going there now unfortunately and it’s sad because it didn’t used to be this way but I’m not coming out of pocket every week for this mess.
Both my kids go here and it’s amazing they love it. They did have an issue with foot mouth but took proper steps and protocols. Everytime me and husband picks up the kids it smells like pinesol or bleach. When they had the issues with hand foot mouth they sent a lot of kids home some just as precaution which my son was one of them and I’m grateful. All is good now they got that under control. I haven’t seen many kids there sick recently. And my son did get sick a lot starting here but the doctors reassured me that alot of kids get sick for the 1 st year at daycare it build their immune systems up. I would personally recommend this day to anyone. All the staff are nice and they are very attentive with the children there. Always taking field trips or Doing something fun for the kids. I definitely recommend Academy of learning its a very nice place.
