Not even worth A star, any former Wisconsin student should know that Wisconsin has a higher system of education in their public schools, it’s higher then the public school in Duluth (in this case Lincoln) and the charter school (this one). I was a former student here so I can tell you how I feel/felt about this school.
To add on to my statement on education here, I came from another state not far away and public school there were challenging and good. If you even care for your child’s education and smarts this school won’t be much of any good.
I managed all to get All A’s even though I didn’t do much at all. The most questionable A I got was from Algebra (the higher up class) because let me tell you, I dislike math with a passion. The school year before my year here (2015-2016) I was a B student for math, AND I was in the lower class! So me not doing much for school year 2016-2017 and getting an A EACH quarter in ADVANCED math is quite odd to me.

Now you might be wondering “well where will my child go?!” try
a school in Hermantown or if you can manage to afford it, Marshall (a private school located in Duluth).

THAT WAS MORE OF AN EDUCATIONAL STANDPOINT, IF INTERESTED IN SCHOOL FLAWS AND ODDITIES PROCEED!

So you’ve seen the outside, sleek, updated and modern looking. Then you see the main entrance/cafeteria. Also pretty cool. Northstar Academy SEEMS nice. But as weeks come by you’ll notice (students) space shortage.
The girls locker room is TINY, all the females are close and changing and that’s annoying because why would you wish to touch sweaty, smelly humans? Or get their bottoms in your face?
This school does not (as of 2016-2017) have a library (there is one but it barely is a library, it’s only for elementary students). So expect a “wonderful” decrease in your student’s reading.
The cafeteria didn’t have much room for a my past grade, they let other grades except ours, use four sets of tables and our grade was expected to be crammed into three, which was terrible.
The lockers were sad, they’re half lockers and just pathetic. But that’s just what I thought.

This school was clique-y and last year I recall a nude being sent around school from one of the males. His fault though.

Good luck with the school you choose, remember I warned you about this and told you what I thought/experienced.

honestly, the school is okay. its not the greatest school, but not the worst.
i attended north star from K-8th grade. over the years some things improved and some things got worse.
in the beginning of its years, edison was horrible at stopping bullying and all that. they did nothing about it at all. theyre definitely better at it now.
some of the teachers are also better and they are better at helping students.
after distance learning the school started sucking at communicating with students and family. i knew nothing about my graduation until the week of, and they still kept changing details. they didnt even have the time posted on their website, just where it was.
one other thing i dont like is the grading system. north star does standard based grading, yet they also dont. some teachers use the standard based grading and others keep switching it up.
trash school tbh, but its also okay i guess.
current student: School deserves a 0 if i could. Alot of the teachers are nice and most of them dont care about anything. The head of schools is really nice but its like she doesnt care. The deans are pretty nice and just that the academic director and the head of schools needs to know who there hiring. Half of the teachers are careless. You have to be perfect in order to get good grades…
