Great program up to 5, but after that those in transition get left behind. Someone needs to advocate for students who lag behind, but not enough to qualify for services.

I’m amazed at the lack of services available through the school and state for pre-kindergarteners. My son is in preschool and will be 5 in Aug. He will no longer be eligible for preschool and doesn’t qualify for special ed, but they recommend keeping him in preschool (which I have to pay a private place) and it’s not cheap) or leave him home for the next year. That’s counter productive. My son is not the only one. There needs to be a transitional kindergarten for those students who are you not ready for kinder, but too old for preschool. I’m sure there’s a grant that can support this.
