horrible school, suspeeded me and made me go skin bald with my hair for something that was not even an undercut. i wont take my future kids here for advice.
Been meaning to update my review for a while. Firstly, I wanted to take an opportunity to acknowledge all the superstar teachers at this school. I so value your contribution to my children’s education and wellbeing. Mrs Heba, Mrs Majd, Mrs Zulfic, Ms Panos, Miss Safi. And that includes those that have moved on like Mrs E, Miss Abbey, Mrs F and sister Silma.

Unfortunately things have taken a nose dive since the appointment of the new (old) principal. Why they wrongfully dismissed our former principal and appointed one who was present to oversee the financial corruption of the former college (Islamic College SA) bewilders me. No surprise that no funds have gone into providing a more nurturing outdoor environment for the children. It’s all work and minimal free play time. Kids are kept on a tight leash – in the morning, kids are not allowed on the playground, nor to play chasey/games, bounce balls or play any ball games for that matter. Goes against positive child development principles. There are a lot of violent outbursts as a result.

Since the principal’s appointment in early 2023, my son’s reception teacher has resigned mid year 2023, along with another reception teacher at the same time. The lower primary coordinator (mentioned in my initial review) resigned. My son’s new reception teacher that took over after the former’s resignation has also resigned. Also, a newly hired Islamic/Arabic teacher resigned this year after barely 4 weeks tenure.

Says to me that AIC is a sinking ship and those that can sense this are jumping ship before things completely go under.

This is an independently run school that manages its own affairs. The Association of Independent Schools and Education Standards Board cannot help. I’ve met with the Executive Principle (who has an OAM as tooted on our school Facebook page). He doesn’t help either. The principle is no different to Joe Biden. They want someone in the seat who won’t make waves and will be easy to manage like a pawn on a chessboard. Can’t remember the last time I saw him tbh. He stays in his office and only communicates through letter/email. And refuses parent volunteers btw. Not a person that nurtures community. The children’s mental health suffers as a result.

As much as I have tried to prop up the schools reputation with my previous 5* review under the former leadership, I cannot do it anymore. Nor can we hold ourselves hostage because of the Islamic environment/values being presented. There comes a point where things need to change when they’re not working, which is why we’re looking for a school elsewhere. And until management changes, I recommend prospective parents do too.

Our experience with leadership, including the head of lower primary, Mrs F, has been nothing short of impressive. She assessed our daughter along with other teaching staff to assist with providing an accelerated form of the curriculum as our daughter attended a strict Montessori preschool and was ahead in her academic abilities. The experience we have had has been very positive and our daughter is thriving in this learning environment. Providing students with opportunities to learn and apply Islamic practices through the school day alongside home is a big plus for us. There is huge potential to achieve academic excellence at this school. It is up to parents to advocate for their children and work with leadership and teachers to be able to. Also, the fees for this school are also VERY reasonable

I really really like this .this is actual islamic college ,qualified staff ,ALHAMDULILAH my daughters leared a lot from this college.
Best best best islamic college
I,ll give 10 out of 10 .love australian islamic college.
If you are a looking for a good Islamic example in the management of this school, you will not find it with this organisation. They do not have the interest of the student or any interest in pleasing Allah. It is purely a business and because they are running it like a business, it seems to be failing them severely again.

The kids are very very disruptive. The school is not able to get a handle on it. There is alot of physical violence between students.
Teachers are wonderful, however management and senior staff make this school a terrible option. Please, really consider sending your children here. If your child has academic skills this is not a learning environment for them. The kids are very disruptive and have terrible disrespect for the teachers and nothing gets done.

The school has changed a lot with the new management and is improving a lot. Of course there’s more to do and heaps to change, but let’s not forget it’s an independent school that offers Islamic education at humble fees. It offers Arabic classes but won’t make you fluent unless you do extra learning outside school. There’s no school that teaches a second language can make your kid fluent without more effort outside school. Islamic studies are taught by well experienced and educated teachers who know where we live and how to engage the kids into the wider community without isolating them like other Islamic schools across Australia.
