UPDATED REVIEW:

Before I write my updated review, I have to say that this review does not reflect past teachers or the current head teacher/director – only the OWNER of this childcare facility.

When my husband and I first started looking for a preschool to place our daughter, we looked at SEVERAL locations. We only met with the head teacher at the time, and not the owner at first, but we were impressed with how clean the school was and that they actually emphasized education (which is a top priority for our family). It was a tough decision to finally place her in school after over 2 years but it was important to us that she made friends and got a taste of a “school” environment.

Fast forward, barely seven months later we had to abruptly remove our child from McDonough Montessori because of news that we received (confirmed by several inside sources) that the owner said something DISHEARTENING and absolutely nasty to our daughter – things that should never be said to a child at anytime!! To say we were angry is an understatement. (Since I’ve spoken to other former parents, I’ve learned of other incidents, as well as, saying mean things to other children who currently still attend, however, I won’t expound on anyone else’s story because it is theirs to tell. All I can discuss is my family’s experience).

What I will say about the owner is that she pretends to care about the children, but she is another way behind closed doors. She needs to learn how to speak to and work with ALL children and her teachers (I’ve personally heard her speak very rudely to her teachers)… and people in general. Since she’s returned on a daily basis, she’s lost many of those great teachers. I also should have known by the way my daughter was reacting to her in my presence (and my daughter is a very vibrant, friendly, intelligent, and discerning child). Lesson learned.

It was difficult to remove our daughter from this school where she made friends and became comfortable but we would do it again because there’s no way that they would get another DIME of our money considering what was said to our child!!!

I would like to start by saying if I could give more star ratings I would. My children all 3, has been attending this school since the beginning of this year & it was my youngest 2, first time ever attending school. For one, My children used to get sick badly constantly at their old daycare & have not one time since they have been there got sick…. Despise the fact that others would tell me that it is something I have to get used to with them being around other children…. That was my biggest concern. Mrs. Miller & the staff keeps this place very clean. Two, my youngest 2 both were very attached to me as we dealt with separation anxiety… the teachers & owner (Mrs. Miller) made it so comfortable for us that my children enjoy going & leaving from school. Mind you my youngest was strictly breastfeeding & refused the bottle BUT with the help, love, patience & care of the staff here he strictly drinks from the bottle which was another big concern for my baby. I love how they engage with each child & I’ve seen a tremendous improvement with all of my kids. Also, the school is very organized, secure, & like a village to my family… I love to over communicate at times & this place hands down met every needs that I needed & wanted. I highly recommend & will refer others to this location!!! Also, my eldest daughter (5 years old) attends the academy & loves going to school. I also have seen an improvement academically because she gets more attention from her teachers. She loves coming home telling me things she has learned & I couldn’t ask for more from the staff with their help. Again, thank you!!
Love love LOVVVVE this school for my baby boy! The owner Mrs.Miller is truly a blessing in disguise, she had only one spot left at her preschool and my son was able to fill with no issues at all. Mrs.Miller is so hands on she’s extremely dependable. My baby boy has adapted extremely well here at Mcdonough Montessori and the staff does amazing with him! He wasn’t really speaking and having many words before enrolling here. I do travel a bit of a distance but it’s because this is the school of my dreams for my son. When I first toured the building I literally fell in love! The previous school my baby was enrolled in he got sick from being there only TWO DAYS.. and the sickness lasted TWO WEEKS, its been TWO MONTHS and not one sickness for this family!! With that being said the facility is super clean and that makes this momma very happy. Thank you Ladies so much for having, teaching, and loving my baby Mr.Z! Special shout out to Miss Tam! She’s so great at listening and understating the things that I bring to her knowledge… THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING MY BOY!!
