Before I write my updated review, I have to say that this review does not reflect past teachers or the current head teacher/director – only the OWNER of this childcare facility.
When my husband and I first started looking for a preschool to place our daughter, we looked at SEVERAL locations. We only met with the head teacher at the time, and not the owner at first, but we were impressed with how clean the school was and that they actually emphasized education (which is a top priority for our family). It was a tough decision to finally place her in school after over 2 years but it was important to us that she made friends and got a taste of a school environment.
Fast forward, barely seven months later we had to abruptly remove our child from McDonough Montessori because of news that we received (confirmed by several inside sources) that the owner said something DISHEARTENING and absolutely nasty to our daughter – things that should never be said to a child at anytime!! To say we were angry is an understatement. (Since Ive spoken to other former parents, Ive learned of other incidents, as well as, saying mean things to other children who currently still attend, however, I wont expound on anyone elses story because it is theirs to tell. All I can discuss is my familys experience).
What I will say about the owner is that she pretends to care about the children, but she is another way behind closed doors. She needs to learn how to speak to and work with ALL children and her teachers (Ive personally heard her speak very rudely to her teachers) and people in general. Since shes returned on a daily basis, shes lost many of those great teachers. I also should have known by the way my daughter was reacting to her in my presence (and my daughter is a very vibrant, friendly, intelligent, and discerning child). Lesson learned.
It was difficult to remove our daughter from this school where she made friends and became comfortable but we would do it again because theres no way that they would get another DIME of our money considering what was said to our child!!!
