My experience here was mixed, I really enjoyed some of the people in my grade, and keep in contact with some to this day, I haven’t had that sense of camaraderie in a school since. That being said, I know a lot of people who went to this school who wound up sputtering out in High School. I believe that this school only really worked for the kids who could play the social game with the teachers and staff, otherwise, you were blackballed as trouble. I personally didn’t experience this, but looking back I could see how it affected others, and potentially ruined some of my friends academic lives. On top of that, I felt like I was socially stunted during my Freshman and Sophomore years of HS because of my attendance here. Though I do remember some great teachers here, shoutout to Mr. Szpak and Ms. Peterson for being absolute Gs: you saved my hide on multiple occasions.
In conclusion, I would say this system worked out great for me and allowed me to get ahead, but it definitely didn’t for others, and put them on the universally feared academic backburner.
Also to all the kids graduated from this school or who’ve recently graduated from this school: you can make it, and make it big. Don’t let some embarrassing, stupid, or traumatic thing you did and/or were a victim of in middle school drag you down. High School is your clean slate for new friends and memories, we’ve all got baggage from this time in our lives, but once you reach adulthood, it will all just be distant memories. Don’t stop the grind, you’ll regret the bad things that happened to you a lot less if you’ve got something to show for it in the end.
Bonne chance !

First and foremost, I made many life long friends here, it’s a wonderful place to make longterm friendships with people that continue to develop in high school which is a plus. Outside of the friendships aspect, this school had many faults in the years I went there.
Now onto the less positive things about this school. I was the only person of color in my grade for the 7 years I was at this school which gave room for a lot hateful speech and just overall different treatment from other students and teachers.
I’ve been called derogatory slurs by other students, entirely unprovoked, teachers have treated me unfairly in comparison to other students, and overall if your student is a person of color, I wouldn’t recommend you send them here as there’s a notable difference in treatment.
Bullying is another thing that goes largely undetected or not dealt with in this school. Some students (myself included) have experienced bullying at this school, mostly verbal or cyber bullying. Someone I knew had gotten bullied to the point they had to transfer out of the school and the school did nothing.
The education is okay for the most part, however the school does not prepare its students for high school. Many of the other former acl students I’ve talked to about their experiences in high school have all agreed that high school is a slap in the face and that this school does very little to prepare students for high school.
All in all, this school is good in terms of elementary school. I would recommend it for elementary school students but I would suggest not choosing this school for middle school.
