I am a parent. I feel and have witnessed the staff act like a friend instead of an adult to students. This school can not keep good teachers. They have a high turn around of teachers which says alot about an institution/place of employment/leadership. Teachers and administrative staff show favoritism towards certain students who may display inappropriate/bullying/gossipy behavior yet manage to promote this negative behavior by acknowledgement and giving them a certificate. Example…a student goes around starting rumors and stirring the pot yet get a kindness award. Every child that attends whose parent works at the school is treated very differently than anyone else.

Curriculums-oh boy!! This is all over the place. Kindergarten classes have too many kids to 1 classroom and they have 2 teachers. Not enough space because this was meant to be a business center vs a school. When my child was in kindergarten the school grade was awful. Middle school…a joke they have 1 group in every grade who are “advanced”. This is the only group who is challenged. The other group in the class are TREATED like they are average and the expectations are ehhh..so they are allowed to slack because they are the other group. The students are in the class making snaps or on tik tok in front of the teachers. If a child can make a tik tok in class then the teacher is not paying attention to what is going on. Like most schools they teach to pass test only. When your child leaves this school they will struggle in high school unless they were in advanced group. Everyone else will struggle because they “dumbed down” what they are being taught and expectations.

Consistency-last year ID BADGES were a must have everyday. If you didn’t have one then you recvd automatic detention. Except if your parent works at the school. This is only for middle school. This year no one cares about the ID BADGE. Policies and rules are a hit or miss. One day its important…the next day not so much.

Leadership-it all starts here people. The great MR. MILLER. Let me say that this principal has lasted the longest. Let me also say..He is so unfair and is a big believer in everyone being punished for 1 person. So if a class has the same people who are constantly getting in trouble the whole class will be in trouble. Someones child recorded him coming into the class and calling them the bad class..lol again. Remove the bad apples and make that class run smoother. He is very catty. I think students need to be asked about how they feel regarding leadership. He doesn’t listen to students who bring concerns or suggestions. No manners to say a simple Thank you for that but here is why that may not work. Again…pls remember there is a high turn around at this school. I had a serious concern and requested a meeting with him and he refused to meet with me. He will only meet with you if he request a meeting.

Not even a 1?? School! Very very unprofessional teachers and most of all principal! The only kind one was mrs Becky in the office. Several weeks into school my oldest of 4 that go there was bullied and I spoke to the principal about the situation he was just a plain idiot! Then the coach put his hands on my daughter .. no Sir! Spoke to him and he acted like he was straight outta HS! The band teacher was amazing as well as some—elementary teachers but the “were against bullying” is all a lie! He can’t handle the tasks at that school ! Mr Miller the principal .. he needs to be replaced ASAP. Went To the school myself and demanded to speak to him he was going into a meeting he would get back with me almost a week and a half later still nothing so I told my daughter if the girls keep bullying her beat their ass, then maybe he will straighten uP and listen! Removing all 4 of my kids back to their original schools! Advantage needs to be investigated and closed down!
I have 3 children currently attending Advantage Academy, all 3 of them have been there since Kindergarten, and my oldest child is now in the 8th grade. I can honestly say this school has come a long way since it’s beginning. My husband and I love the school and so do my kids. Advantage has an environment that is very family friendly, and I think the small setting lends to that. Mr. Miller and the teachers have done an excellent job of taking this school and making it their own and the improvements over the years since he became Principal are noteworthy. He knows all of the kids by name and they all love him. While it is bittersweet that this is my daughters last year there because she will be going to high school, I am happy that we chose this school from day one and happy that I have still have two other children that will still be attending.
