Hello, I do not wish to disclose my name due to safety reasons. After finally arriving in year 6, I believe I should discuss my experience at this school, as my days as a primary student have shortened. In this discussion, I will document my experience with different parts of this school. It is important to note that my opinion may be viewed as inaccurate, as my review is simply based on my experience; if you consider my subjective opinion on this education centre, please do not acknowledge this review.

Staff:

The first category, and arguably one of the most significant is staff; my experience with staff is very mixed. This school does not lack strict teachers, my guardians/parents have described certain individuals at this school as tense, and their vision of shaping students as ‘unworthy of modern educational standards’. I agree with this statement, but acknowledging the kind in this school is important. While I haven’t interacted with those working at the office often, with my few encounters, it’s safe to say that these office workers are very polite. I can’t say the same for certain workers whose names I will not disclose.

Some of these employees seem to be overly strict; in the sense that they’ve pretty much been trained to cause as much suffering to children as possible. While yes, that is a vast exaggeration, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t much better than that. I would like to say that years PREP to 3 doesn’t contain morbidly strict teachers; that’s not to say that these teachers won’t teach your child any discipline: believe me, they certainly will familiarise your children with the norms of this school. I conclude this statement with the fact that almost every person at this school seems to have at least a slight hatred for children.

Quality of teaching:

An important matter to discuss is the quality of teaching. It one hundred per cent matters in schools like this: purpose-built to accommodate the most amount of students possible. It vastly depends on who the teacher is; I must argue that learning Mandarin Chinese in LOTE (Languages other than English) has a very low quality of teaching. I don’t believe it is fair that some of what you’re paying is for watching five-year-old YouTube videos shot in 720p about some origami. It also seems to give a major advantage to fluent background speakers, giving them different, often more enjoyable tasks.

On the other hand; I must congratulate the team working at Food Tech for their efforts; it is very interesting developing foods from a diverse set of nations: it’s truly a magical experience. As for general classes, I would say that the quality of teaching is decent, but it usually consists of a brief explanation of the task usually on a whiteboard, and then being told to almost figure the rest out by analysing a text usually provided to elaborate on the brief instructions. It is very unfortunate to say that this school seems to rely on online texts and resources, just outright borrowing tasks from online sources. It’s simply not that difficult to download a PDF from the internet, and unfortunately, it’s not that much better than what we have here at Alamanda. Another disadvantage to this school is almost on a daily occurrence we get taught something we already know. In year six we still get taught information from year two, learning graphs in year six is seriously pathetic.

Architecture:

One thing that is consistently brought up is architecture, and for once, something that I believe is above average at this school is architecture. In my opinion, this school is home to some very exquisite architecture. The facilities here are amazing, seriously. I am very impressed with the sheer beauty of architecture here.

Though what lies inside is much more disappointing, I want to put it out there that the toilets in this school are outright unusable. I swear you see brown stains in some of the toilets, most of the hand dryers don’t work, the floors are covered in urine, the smell rancid and don’t even get me started on the feces on some of the equipment.

The school is quite ablest does not give much support to kids with special needs also just not the best
It is the best school in Point Cook! You can get so much knowledge!
Alamanda is an okay school. its not the best, but things like exhibition, excursions & camp are fun & educational.
some of the teachers here are a bit rude, like treating certain students unfairly or getting them in trouble for small things by what i have experienced. I have been at this school for 7-8 years & id say that primary school was most fun.
I was a student at Alamanda from 2016-2019 and now in East Doncaster Secondary. I had lots of memories in that school and in my eyes, the school is excellent, top notch facilities for real and nice teachers. I really want to go back and have a look.
