I read a lot of the reviews on here and most of them talked about Ronny’s blunt honesty, which I don’t mind and felt like I needed to be prepared for the test. I work in a field that requires blunt honestly so I don’t mind hearing harsh criticism. What I was expecting was someone who pulled me over and said “Look , you have a lot of work before the test” or “That was really bad” type of blunt honestly which I would be fine with. What I wasn’t prepared for was how aggressive the instructor was.

It was far from my first time in the car but I swear this guy made me feel like I’d never set foot in a car in my life. He was aggressive and kept his voice at a high, almost yell the entire time. His “blunt honesty” is mostly just calling you “crazy” or berating you for simple mistakes and asking you if you even know how to drive (which we don’t if we’re coming to you for instruction). He barely gave me a second to correct a mistake before his hands were on the wheel doing it for me or slamming on the breaking (even in low traffic areas where it really wasn’t necessary to do). His hands were guiding the wheel more than I was.

While I don’t doubt his technique for things like parallel parking and 3 point turns are good, I wouldn’t know because he just was so aggressive every time I made even a tiny little mistake that I just became afraid of messing up, messed up more and retained none of what was taught to me. Half of his instructions were in between berating me for tiny mistakes in a moving vehicle where I could process none of the information. There was just ZERO patience.

I ended up going to a different driving school and having a much better experience where I learned way better and for cheaper (and ended up passing). If you’re the type of person who feels like they need “a boot up their rear” so to speak to learn, then by all means choose this school; but if you struggle to learn under aggression, have any sort of anxiety or need patience, it’s definitely not where you want to go. There are much more patient instructors that teach the same techniques.

I highly recommend Albany Driving School for anyone looking to learn driving. Ronny is a knowledgeable instructor and has effective teaching methods, particularly for maneuvers like parallel parking and three-point turns, which are crucial for the driving test. His lessons on the test day were particularly helpful.
Ronny is well-versed in what is required for the driving test and tailors his lessons accordingly. He asked me to first decide the test date. As the test approaches, he increased the number of lessons that was beneficial for me.
Ronny was also very accommodating with my schedule, which is often busy due to my research work. He was flexible enough to arrange lessons early in the morning or during lunch hours, picking me up from my workplace.
He always motivated me to trust in my skills and made sure the learning process was tailored to my needs, including choosing locations for practice and the road test based on my preferences. Ronny was straightforward with his feedback, letting me know when he felt I was ready for the test.
For those who are new to driving or feel nervous about it, Ronny at Albany Driving School is an excellent choice. Best of luck with your driving test!”
I couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor than Ronny! Thanks to his patient and expert guidance, I not only learned how to drive, but I also passed my driving test on the very first attempt. Ronny’s friendly demeanor made every lesson enjoyable, and his clear instructions and effective teaching methods helped me gain confidence behind the wheel.

Throughout the learning process, Ronny was always supportive and encouraging, which made a huge difference in my overall experience. He was attentive to my strengths and weaknesses, tailoring each lesson to address areas where I needed improvement while also reinforcing my skills. His professionalism and dedication to his students’ success are truly commendable.

I highly recommend Ronny to anyone looking for a driving instructor. Whether you’re a beginner or in need of a refresher course, Ronny is the perfect choice. Thanks to him, I now feel confident and prepared to navigate the roads safely.
