Many pupils have psychological issues after going to Albyn School, but probably it has changed and modernised in recent years. It used to keep a Victorian system alive. Not recommended for those with learning disabilities: especially ADHD where pupils are victimised and intimidated by staff. Staff preferred to berate and use fear tactics rather than encourage pupils to achieve more, especially for History, Music, Science and Maths. Several pupils have been heavily discouraged at developing maths abilities, only to be proven wrong in exams when they prove they could do it, to the teacher’s surprise. However, there are new teachers now, and a newer modernised school – I hope it has taken a positive turn since the first decade of 2000, but I have heard similar stories from recent pupils.
