Mr. Chris conducted a super informative session for parents to help enhance digital security.
My child spent exactly one year at this school. Though not every school is perfect, we encountered many problems while my child was attending. Thus, we have decided to transfer to another school. The following are some of the complaints we have.
The first problem is that the school does not really seem to have good safety measures and systems. For example, the school playground has many high and dangerous play structures for younger grades. The number of adults supervising children during recess does not seem sufficient. My child suffered serious injuries, breaking his arm twice in two weeks. No adult was properly observing him, leading to these serious incidents. Note that parents are not allowed to watch CCTV footage to check how serious incidents were and examine the situation. I explicitly asked for CCTV footage, but my request was simply declined. If I had not paid the full year’s tuition fees, I would have changed my child’s school right then.
Next, the staff/teacher turnover rate seems high. During my child’s first year at this school, we observed several teachers leaving, including my child’s lead teacher. One cannot simply ignore the importance of teachers staying with their students throughout the year to deliver a consistent learning environment.
Lastly, I question the school’s transparency in assessing students’ performance. There was a parent-teacher conference not long ago. I was told by my child’s lead teacher that he would receive an academic award due to his excellent academic performance. She confirmed that my child was the top-performing student in her class. She also showed my child his MAP test results and told him that he would get two awards at the end-of-year award ceremony. My child sincerely looked forward to them. However, he only received an attendance award. I do not know what happened, but according to my child, some higher-ups (I will not name them) objected to my child receiving the academic achievement award. This event clearly shows that a student who is well recognized by his/her main teacher cannot get what he/she deserves simply because of some reasons the school does not share with parents.
Now the academic year is over, and we are ready to leave this school. Of course, there were good things and memories we have from this school, but our overall impression is negative.
I am really glad and lucky that my child is in this school.
