They were having non natives from indian health board teach my son and probably the whole school how to pray without even asking the parents permission and its a public school even tho its directed towards indigenous kids. I don’t send my son to school to learn how to pray, that teaching comes from home FAMILY ! Not all tribes pray the same way & not all families in a tribe pray the same way. So theres no way this school should be teaching this especially without the parents permission.
I work at Anishinabe Academy. I can not ask for better administration and staff to work with. It has been the first job where I have had great support. Both of my daughters go to school here and my youngest has came home teaching me Ojibwa. My oldest can be very shy at times and now she is more open. She will be performing a play with Anishinabe at Children’s Theatre.
Used to go here in kindergarten. I was an Indian student too. Hated it here. Got headlice from this place, got into trouble many times due to its disrespectful staff, and they couldn’t really handle the students there neither. Honestly, at this rate, I am amazed it is still open all these years later.
