It took an entire year and four meetings to finally get an IEP put together for him, he was in Kindergarten and obviously prone to violent tantrums. They still forgot to put things in his IEP that we were promised would be there, because he’s just a number and not important or anything. Their people were constantly calling us to pick him up early because they have a “hands-off” policy with their students and he was just too violent. The teacher had the nerve to demand we medicate him even stronger than he already is, and she’s NOT (I repeat, NOT) a doctor! The teacher and speech therapist also insisted that he’s autistic when his THERAPIST said he is not autistic, doesn’t come anywhere near the autism spectrum. They did not actually have him in a classroom for the last four months of the school year even though we were being assured he was getting social interaction. Kind of hard to do when he’s only at school for one hour and forty minutes. Did I mention they cut his already half day in half again, and we were STILL getting calls to pick him up early?

The “counselor” had the nerve to make a complaint to CPS against me after the school called me to pick him up because he was being too violent and they couldn’t handle him. She felt I was being abusive when I pulled him out from under the table he was hiding under, but she even admitted at the time that none of the staff could actually make him come out from under the table because of their “hands-off” policy. So basically, the call to CPS was nothing more than the “counselor’s” cute way of slandering my name in case I try to get a job with any program involving children. He will be attending another school at the beginning of this year because April Lane is a Level 0 school and they think he needs a level 2 school.
