Disappointed with instructor submerging, for 5 secs, our lil one who was barely eligible to enroll due to child’s age. After this occurred on first day, i requested that the child not be submerged for 5 seconds as child had no experience, knowledge or understanding of what’s being asked or what’s going on. On next visit, other instructor submerged child, similarly, after i had informed and requested not to. On May 30, we arrived ahead of schedule but my child didn’t enter pool as the instructor was in the water with 4 much bigger participants. By the the time our small one entered the water and the time child was dismissed and out of the water, child had spent only 21:43 seconds in the pool before child was dismissed with the already in the pool group. I paid for 30 minutes not 21 mins. By the way, website states 2.5 – 4 years of age are in one group. Why was our child with children three or four times child’s age? Being that the supervisor on duty had been guilty of submerging child the second time, I left my info on 5/30 and requested that her supervisor, Cristina, call me about my concern. She never called. Instructor subsequently stated child no longer felt comfortable in the water and that perhaps child had had a bad water experience, really you think?
My 6 year old loves this place! They do a great job working with the little ones. My son is learning basic swimming skills well with their instruction and is gaining more confidence (as are his parents ??) in his ability to protect himself. Case in point…we were at a friends house where they have an in ground pool. Their little grand daughter and my son were playing and she playfully pushed him into the pool and I was to him within 2.5 seconds but he was already kicking and swimming his way to the surface and pool side edge where I quickly plucked him out of the water. He was not scared and said he felt confident he could swim to the edge if he had to by himself. The skills he’s gained thus far at Aquatots are life saving to say the least!
The instructors are caring and work with the little ones very well. My only critical comment is that the parent seating space can get crowded when classes are full and the changing areas to dry off the kids could have more stalls. But overall…we love our Aquatots!
