While I have been mostly pleased with Vanguard, there are some areas of real concern. I don’t feel that they are concerned with struggling students, but only with those who are “college bound”. My grandson was signed up for a summer school class to make up his F in English. After we spent the time and effort for him to complete the class with a B+, we were told they couldn’t give him credit because the class they recommended was not approved for credit! I felt like I had been lied to and that they were not truthful. Although my grandson struggled with his grades and was able to bring some up significantly, he did fail AVID three times. After the third F he was informed that he was required to do 55 hours of community service for each F, a total of 165 hours! They didn’t bother to tell him after the first F, which seems like the right thing to do. His math grade went from F to A- with a different teacher, so I have to think the first teacher was not capable of teaching math.
Hello I’m a former vanguard student and so was my brother. My brother almost failed the eighth grade but because of the dedicated teachers he did not fail. Also the sixth grade teachers are extremely concerned about new sixth graders who have join and it is their first day at vanguard. This school serves kids grades sixth and all the way through high school. High schoolers can not graduate high school until they get a collage acceptance letter. There for I believe vanguard is the the best of the stantislaous county.
If you’re thinking about coming to this school DON’T! I attend this school my 7th grade year. The entire time I attend I was being bullied and tormented daily by other students to the point where I would be terrified to come to school everyday. Even when my mother talked to Ms.Rose and the school staff regarding the bullying issue they did nothing about it. My mom finally decided to pull me out when she saw it started to effect my mental health.Till this day I have not healed from my trauma, I’m also in therapy.
