After spending four years of my life here and graduating in June, I can honestly say that Athens was an enriching experience. The school is definitely on the come up, the new principal is doing a GREAT job with the school. If you are an AP level student, then Athens is great. The teachers teaching these classes are fantastic, and I was able to build great relationships with some of them. However, if you are enrolled in mostly academic classes, you may get teachers that should probably be doing something else. There are a lot of drugs and violence occurs somewhat often (although far less often than when I came in 2014), hence the three star rating.
My daughter will be graduating in June from Athens Drive, a solid, well funded Wake Co school. She’s made so many friends, in concert band, ran track, crossing her it’s and sitting those It’s, taking so many prep tests, courses…she is determined to get into college of her choice and study to be a dentist. The teachers and coaches have always shown interest in helping every kid that comes through it’s doors, make the life they want, the one they deserve. Geeez, where does the time go??? PS currently freezing my ass off at homecoming football game lol. Free parking and wheelchair accessible
