Atlee Christian appears great. Please let me caution you. My daughter attended both kindergarten and first grade at the school. If your child is busy or inquisitive, you might want to consider other options.
We were told that my daughter had learning disabilities and we tried numerous strategies to combat them. We met regularly with staff. As a former educator and nurse, I began to notice none of these things they implemented helped my daughter.
The heartbreaking part was that my daughter began to be treated poorly by administrators and the students. THEY ALLOWED THIS! She got nervous when she went up to give her oral report at the end of school and was told in front of everyone she failed because she couldn’t read. I knew better. She had picked all of the facts herself. She had worked so hard on it. The daycare even pulled us aside with concern about her written evaluation on the project.
It was the last straw for me, but the school went one further by telling my husband and I she would need to be retained. A few of her ending benchmarks were borderline low but we strongly diagreed with the school. My husband did research about retention and the principals response was,”I have been doing this for 20 years and this research is irrelevant. She absolutely will not be able to keep up with 2nd grade work. She will be retained.”
We had my daughter tested by the public school district for grade level and learning disabilities. She tested right into a beginning second grade level. She had no learning disabilities. I am happy to say that she has successfully completed the 2ndgrade this year and will be moving on to 3rd grade next year.
To the horrible administrators at Atlee:
CLEARLY YOU’RE 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IS NOT ALL YOU NEED IN EVALUATING CHILDREN! You devastated my daughter! She fell on the floor crying at the thought of doing an oral report this year! But guess what……she got 100%! She learned a valuable life lesson the hard way from you rotten people: NEVER LET SOMEONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CANT!
Nothing but a positive experience here! Loving faculty, teachers, and families with the right balance of academic rigor and childhood fun! We have enjoyed our years here.
