My child attends this school, and on Friday, May 11th there was an assault to some students by a substitute teacher which ended in him being escorted by police off the premises. I had to find out from my child, not one phone call or letter informing me about the incident. I called to find out and everyone acted oblivious to what happened that day. Later the vice principal called me to tell me a downplayed version of what happened that day. Then yesterday I find out there was a level 3 lockdown, which is serious, and I heard nothing about it yet again, no courtesy call, or letter or even a word from a teacher that day when I came to pick up my child. I had to find out from my child telling me “we had to hide behind a closet and be really quiet”. So I call the school the next day to find out, and yet again, nobody knows really what happened and I had to wait to speak to the vice principal. Like really, there was a lock down, and you know nothing? Then find out that my child was correct. They were in danger and I would know nothing if my child didnt say anything. I dont know what they’re hiding these incidents for. My child will not be going there next year.
this 5 star review is for the administrators & students that i PERSONALLY know who are doing all that they can to make this school, neighborhood and our community in general a much better place than they once was. i would like to commend the team that has helped this school during it’s latest transition into the BAMO Academy, I truly believe many times we don’t give ourselves a real chance before judging what’s being done in order to resolve issues, and from past reviews that’s obvious.
What many of us have to realize is that it takes a VILLAGE. if all you are doing is calling AFTER school to figure our what’s going on, you’re the problem. if you’re calling up to the school and you don’t know the secretary/office assistant, principal, vice principal, family coordinator, you’re the problem. if you have never been up to your child’s school other than to question their disciplinary consequence, you’re the problem.
i’m not even a fan of public schooling, but i do know, i SEE, and i appreciate the work being done by BAMO to uplift it’s image and the minds of all the pupils in it. DONATE VOLUNTEER #stopcomplaining
I’ve heard many bad things about this elementary school. Such as rude teachers, lack of control and many students who use mal language. And based on some of the reviews by the students, they’re obviously not taught very well. Their vocabulary and spelling is incorrect. I’m glad my children will not be attending to this school.
