Classes are overcrowded with many more children than the NC state law allows per classroom. Teachers are unaware of situations due to the overwhelming number of children in the classes. Administration was dishonest with me on 2 separate occasions regarding the number of students in a class. Bullying is tolerated but a child that defends himself against a bully suffers consequences.

I was in Principal Gabriel’s office 4 times this year for my 5th grader who has never been any part of any trouble ever before. Mrs. Gabriel interrupted me a number of times when I tried to speak. It became so uncomfortable that I had to ask her to allow me to finish speaking twice before talking over me.

My sons grades went from straight A’s to D’s in a matter of weeks when classes were combined. He witnessed a substitute teacher forcefully putting her hands on a child’s face. She was then promoted to teachers aide. Whole classrooms are punished when one child is disruptive. The entire 5th grade has “silent lunch” everyday. By the end of the year, my son didn’t feel he could trust anyone in administration.

This is only my experience but other parents deserve to know what to expect from Administration should an issue arise at Barnette Elementary School.

This has to be the worst school I’ve ever been to in my life and ever will go to,I was here 2013-2014 I think and I was in 5th grade,my 5th grade teacher ms Papp was horrible, she was mean to me for no reason and she allowed kids to bully me and she probably didn’t like me so she allowed it,idk I just feel like she’s a very incompetent teacher, that’s the worst but there’s more, the principal at the time was annoying, kids always bullied me and it was my first year without a A B honoroll because the schools education was poor,It was the first time in my life I actually hated going to school, usually I loved school and my dad made a complaint but they did nothing, please if you love your child don’t send them here
